2 Dec, 20, Source: GKN Aerospace NHIndustries and NAHEMA, acting as the Contracting Authority on behalf of the German Bundeswehr, have signed the contract for the procurement of 31 NH90 helicopters for shipborne operations. The contract brings the total order book to 597 rotorcraft. The purchase of the helicopters strengthens GKN Aerospace’s leadership position in the defence industry today and reinforces its strategic focus on the market for the future.
12 Oct, 20, Source: NH Industries NHIndustries and its Partner Companies (Airbus Helicopters, Leonardo and Fokker), have signed with the NATO Helicopter Management Agency (NAHEMA) a firm contract for the development of an upgraded version of the NH90 Tactical Troop Helicopter (TTH) for the French Special Forces (TFRA Standard 2).
The German Navy will officially start full operations of the NH90 NTH "Sea Lion" which will replace the Mk41 "Sea King". The Sea King has been in the German Navy for almost 50 years now and is to be successively retired by 2023. By 2022, all 18 "Sea Lion" should be delivered by Airbus Helicopters and will be based with Naval Aviation Squadron 5 in Nordholz. "The takeover of the 'Sea Lion' heralds the future of naval aviation in the helicopter sector.
