What was your first job as a journalist?
As a Photojournalist, I first was commissioned by The Associated Press(AP) to cover Victims of Ferry Fire incident in Barishal City, Bangladesh.
Have you ever used a typewriter?
Yes, I did. I still love to play with a typewriter.
What does it mean to be a journalist?
It means more of a responsibility than a job to me. The absolute power to use my work change people’s lives in positive ways are really what make this job different from many others.
How do you prefer to be pitched on stories?
I prefer to be pitched with as many information possible regarding what the client is looking looking for, when is the deadline and other important information beforehand.

Adobe Lightroom

I wish the great Photographer Steve Mccurry followed me.
Why did you become a journalist?
I became a Journalist to be able to tell stories of people that are untold. To be a voice for those who has no voice, to use the power of journalism for the betterment of humanity.
Did you work for your high school newspaper? If so, what did you do there?
No, I didn’t.
What story are you most proud of writing or working on?
I mostly like working on Humanitarian stories that has something to tell about the people
What advice can you offer to aspiring journalists?
Research! Research! Research! Research as much as you can before you ever start working on the field.

What's the best pitch you ever got?
The best pitch I ever got was my career's first pitch when I was requested to cover the Ferry Fire Accident by The Associated Press(AP). A really heart breaking story to cover but I still consider that the best pitch I ever got so far.
What's the worst pitch you ever got?
I don’t want to point that out.
What's your favorite drink?
My favourite drink is Coca-Cola
When you're not at a computer, where are you most likely to be?
I most likely to be at my home giving time to my family.

I love to read stories by Shafiqul Alam, the AFP reporter based in Bangladesh aside my own work.
