The Sabres Waive A Defenseman And Call Up A Forward
-- With Cody Franson returning to the lineup on Saturday, the Sabres have eight defensemen on the roster. Dan Bylsma has said they won’t carry eight, so Taylor Fedun has been waived. In 25 games with Buffalo Fedun has no goals and seven assists.Fedun has played 20 games in Rochester netting four goals and 13 assists for 17 points.Buffalo has also called up winger Nick Baptiste. From The Locker Room: Sabres-Senators
Nick Baptiste's 2nd goal of the season came early in the game, but the Sabres couldn't manage any more offense in a 2-1 loss to the Senators. Cole Schneider picked up his first NHL point on Baptiste's goal. Read what both players had to say."[Schneider and I] read off each other pretty well and have that chemistry that we've built for the last little while. He saw me coming in pretty hot there and put it on my tape. It was a great play.""We've played them twice in the last week.
Sabres Are Improving At Defending
-- The Sabres waited a day to call a forward up from Rochester. Hudson Fasching’s groin injury will keep him out of Tuesday’s game and Dan Bylsma said a recall is coming. My guess is they waited a day for Salary Cap reasons. During practice on Monday, all the forwards alternated in with Derek Grant and Nick Baptiste. The Sabres just barely missed seven shots towards the empty Winnipeg net on Sunday so at the end of practice, Bylsma did have them working on it.
From The Locker Room: Sabres-Canucks
Nick Baptiste scored his first career goal and Robin Lehner stopped 18 shots in Thursday's 2-1 loss to the Canucks. Read what both players told the media following the game."I was able to come up the middle of the ice and we've been emphasizing getting pucks to the net. We haven't shot enough in the last couple games, so I just tried to get to the net and obviously it was a fortunate bounce to just pinball in there.""Really wanted to come out with a win today, but everything reflects consistency.
Baptiste In The Lineup For Sabres Against Calgary
-- Nick Baptiste was recalled from the Rochester Americans late Friday night, but had to wait to make his NHL debut. That comes tonight against the Calgary Flames. Sabres head coach Bylsma said that the rookie will need to be able to keep his emotions in check in order to help the team tonight.
Sabres' O'Reilly Is Back And Ready
-- Ryan O’Reilly didn’t skate on Monday, but he finished up his physical and will play Wednesday’s Preseason game.Dan Bylsma said of course O’Reilly wanted to be on the ice, but after seven games with Team Canada, rest was more important. O’Reilly said, “I feel good, I think it’s just getting a little rest after the tournament, but I feel good and excited to be back here with the boys.”Now that O’Reilly’s back everybody is at least here or on the ice.
