How is social media changing news?
Clickbait and the need to be first rather than right is severely and I fear irreparably damaging the quality of news stories.
Who's your favorite fictional journalist?
That character Uncle Duke from Doonesbury
What does it mean to be a journalist?
You are able to share news and stories to a targeted community.
What's the funniest news-related #hashtag you've seen?
I don't think I really pay attention to this sort of thing.
How do you prefer to be pitched on stories?
I like to be contacted via email although sometimes I make connections through Linkedin.
What tools and software do you use to do your job?
I usually use Skype, MS Word, and Call Note for my home recording needs. A good tripod and video camera is needed for travel.
What's your favorite social network?
Facebook.
Who do you wish followed you?
More press people in Scandinavia, East Asia, and the Pacific NorthWest.
Why did you become a journalist?
I like to write about things to give a historical context to people and subjects I care about.

What advice can you offer to aspiring journalists?
In order to do a good job a good amount of research including review of recent press and interviews is needed.
When's the best time to pitch you?
Pitch me when you are free.
What's the best pitch you ever got?
I think getting to do a story on the Masters of Illusion at Harrah's Casino (Atlantic City) (2014) may have been it.
What's the worst pitch you ever got?
Probably anything I didn't read because I didn't feel like looking at the email. Word of advice the topic of your email is really important.
What's your favorite drink?
Root Beer
When you're not at a computer, where are you most likely to be?
Perhaps seeing a concert, or reading one of my favorite zines.
