What was your first job as a journalist?
I worked for a citizen website called reporter.co.za. I submitted virtually a story a day, every day, 7 days a week.

Yes.
How is social media changing news?
It's making news far more of a conversation, and part of that conversation is news. Social media played a huge part in empowering me.

Clark Kent.
What does it mean to be a journalist?
It means caring about issues, interpreting them, gaining insight, and creating understanding...which helps makes this world a better place.

On Facebook.
What tools and software do you use to do your job?
All the digital goodies, various cameras with various lenses, laptop, desktop, smartphone, social media - and a notepad.

Why did you become a journalist?
I don't see myself as a journalist, but a writer. I felt I wasn't reading the sort of the stories I wanted to read, so I write them myself.
Did you work for your high school newspaper? If so, what did you do there?
No.
What story are you most proud of writing or working on?
Bloodline - it's a fictional epic set in Scotland, 200 years into the future.

Write about what interests you.
