What was your first job as a journalist?
writing for a small newspaper in potsdam
Who's your favorite fictional journalist?
David Remnick. He is real. Even though sometimes, he seems like someone who jumped out of a novel
What's the funniest news-related #hashtag you've seen?
Everything with a "gate". Knowing it was just the name of the Watergate hotel makes me chuckle.
What's your favorite social network?
It was Twitter, now it is a very frequently readjusted instagram
Did you work for your high school newspaper? If so, what did you do there?
I did not because our high school newspaper got supervised by a teacher and I found that very offputting.
What story are you most proud of writing or working on?
I worked on a story that profiled a man living in a house in Berlin which was being neglected by its owner: a big company.
What's the most common misperception about your beat?
That my politics writing is focused on policy, it is rather focused on the people who feel the consequences of policy in their lives.
