Social media is democratizing news, for better or worse, and is bringing an immediacy to it that didn't exist before.
What tools and software do you use to do your job?
The internet is full of amazing tools and they are all at our fingertips, but like most people, I focus on the G-Suite and Slack.
What's your favorite social network?
It has to be Twitter. It's instantaneous, it's all-encompassing, and highly customizable.
Who do you wish followed you?
It's an impossibility but I would love to be followed by some of the ancient philosophers. Their works have shaped me tremendously.
Did you work for your high school newspaper? If so, what did you do there?
Unfortunately, I did not.
What story are you most proud of writing or working on?
I always enjoy writing about sustainability in the beauty industry and how the "green movement" is shaping the industry moving forward.
When's the best time to pitch you?
In the morning.
When you're not at a computer, where are you most likely to be?
I'm a big mountain climber and love spending time outside with my family. When I'm offline you're likely to find me outside somewhere.
What's the most common misperception about your beat?
That beauty and cosmetics are only for women.
