What was your first job as a journalist?

My first job was writing short news pieces for a pop culture website.

Why did you become a journalist?

I always loved to write, even as a kid. I thought I'd write fiction, but once I started covering cars, I knew I'd found my home.

What's the worst pitch you ever got?

I get an endless number of pitches about pregnancy and childhood products. I am not writing about your breast pump or belly cream.

What's your favorite drink?

I can survive anything with a cold glass of Diet Coke in hand.

What's the most common misperception about your beat?

The travel isn't as cool as it looks. I know some airports better than my local grocery store.
