nigel pivaro’s Biography
Traditional Italian heritage catholic working class background in 1960s and 70s Manchester.
Attended Secondary Modern school followed by manual labouring jobs before wining place at RADA. 1983 made debut on London stage at the Theatre Royal Stratford.
Thereafter followed a busy career in the Theatre and TV especially as featured major character in the long running and popular Coronation Street.
Leaving show business behind In 2000 I attended University as a mature student gaining a 2.1 in Contemporary Military History. I followed this with a Masters degree (MSc (econ) in International Relations specialising in terrorism. Following NCTJ Fast Track Diploma I entered newspapers as journalist working for Manchester Evening News, The Tameside Reporter and Salford Star and writing and presenting four films for BBC1s Inside Out before becoming freelance and writing for various nationals the Daily Star Sunday, The Sunday Mirror, The Daily Mirror, The Daily Express, Die Zeit, Jane's Intelligence Review and The Catholic Herald..Providing stories from conflict zones Syria Turkey and Eastern Ukraine. My interest will see me continue to report from these hotspots.
