Niki Blasina
VerifiedNiki Blasina’s Biography
I currently live in New York City and work as a video producer and reporter at The Wall Street Journal. I'm a graduate of Columbia University's Graduate School of Journalism, where I received my Master's degree in journalism focusing in digital media. While at Columbia, I reported on local New York City and U.S. politics, sports, labor, and Hurricane Sandy across multiple platforms, and additionally received honors in sports journalism and on "An Ugly Business for Young, Pretty Girls," a 5000-word Masters project uncovering child labor abuse in New York City's seemingly glamorous fashion modeling industry.
I'm experienced in arts and entertainment reporting across multiple platforms, and have written for The Wall Street Journal, Variety, Style.com, MTV Canada, The Huffington Post, Complex, and FASHION, among others, and had regular appearances on an entertainment panel for CTV News, broadcast live across Canada.
Although the site is currently on hiatus, I founded "A Haute Mess," a fashion and entertainment site -- with a dose of humor -- that has received numerous accolades since its inception in 2009. A Haute Mess has been consistently named one of the top fashion and entertainment sites in Canada, in addition to international press features including FLARE, FASHION, VOGUE Paris, Glamour, and Seventeen magazines. I continue to make guest appearances on television and radio to discuss top stories in fashion and entertainment.
In addition to my Master's degree in journalism, I have a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of Victoria and an Associate certificate in Public Relations from the British Columbia Institute of Technology. I'm a fashion, sports, politics, entertainment, and travel enthusiast, a Mario Kart titleholder... and a drop-crotch pant aficionado.
