Nikita Mandhani’s Biography

Nikita Mandhani is a multimedia journalist, documentary film maker, and a visual storyteller. She specializes in social justice and international reporting and food and travel journalism. Her work has appeared in the Washington Post, AJ+, Vox.com, USA Today, Eater, the Lily, the Huffington Post, Upworthy, Buzzfeed India, Belt Magazine, The Mary Sue, The Quint, Brown Girl Magazine and the Social Justice News Nexus among several other publications.

Nikita received a master's degree in journalism from Northwestern University's Medill School and interned at Vox.com and USA Today in Washington D.C. She has reported from the United States (including Puerto Rico), Germany, and South and South East Asia. She also worked on a documentary about the Palestinians in Chicago Lawn - a lesser known neighborhood on the southwest side of Chicago.

Currently, Nikita works as a Video Editor/Producer at the Washington Post with a special focus on their Snapchat Discover channel. Before attending Medill, Nikita worked as a software engineer in Pune (India) for about three years, quit her job to travel across South East Asia and freelanced for a number of Indian and international publications. She has served as a panel speaker for various panel discussions on refugees, immigrants, gender issues, South Asia and the Middle East.
