Have you ever used a typewriter?

Not since I was a kid. I think my dad bought it at a garage sale...

How is social media changing news?

It's put journalists at the mercy of the crowd and vice versa. Discussions are reaching their fever pitches more quickly than ever.

What tools and software do you use to do your job?

I'm a big Google Docs advocate. I find the fact that you can work on a story from anywhere pretty amazing.

What's your favorite social network?

Tumblr. It's a great hub for journalism news, pop culture, music, art, social issues, women's rights issues and everything in between.

What advice can you offer to aspiring journalists?

Ask for help. Ask for help. Ask for help. Don't wait for stories to come to you. Try to write everyday.
