Nils Larsen’s Biography
Nils Larsen, a Norwegian Sea Captain who is most associated with the Norway expeditions of Antartica. Larsen was born in Sandar, Norway, and after receiving his masters degree he was employed by a shipping company and later on became a well known whaler. Nils Larsen also not only captained a number of ships of his own but he also served as a first mate on Norvegia expeditions of Antartica. During this scientific expedition, eventually Norway achieved annexation of Bouvet Isnald and Peter I Island. Larsen was the first to have ever set food on the island.
