Bot Detection Software Is Not a Commodity
You probably already know bots are a problem. What most buyers underestimate is how different that problem looks depending on where you sit. A media company hemorrhaging ad impressions to click fraud has almost nothing in common with an e-commerce operator watching bots drain gift card balances overnight.

A Historic Opportunity in Municipals
Recent bond market repricing has pushed municipal yields to levels not seen in decades and improved the potential risk-reward profile for fixed income. Here, we examine why municipals stand out, how supportive credit fundamentals shape the opportunity and why investors may benefit from extending maturities to lock in attractive tax-exempt income.

Company Secretarial Software Does More Than Filing
Most businesses discover what a company secretary actually does at exactly the wrong moment. A shareholder dispute surfaces, a board resolution turns out to be improperly recorded, or a statutory deadline slips past while everyone assumed someone else was tracking it. By then, the gap between "we have a process" and "we have a defensible, auditable record" has already cost you. The right software closes that gap before it opens.

Call Answering Software Rewards the Patient Buyer
You can lose a customer in the time it takes a phone to ring four times. Not because your product is wrong, or your price is off, but because nobody answered. That is the quiet cost that most businesses underestimate until they start measuring missed calls, and then the number is always worse than expected.

Calendar Software Reveals More Than Free Slots
Most businesses buy calendar software to solve a surface problem: people are missing meetings, double-booking rooms, or wasting ten minutes on scheduling emails for every thirty-minute call. Those are real frustrations, and fixing them matters. But the teams that get the most out of their calendar platform are usually the ones who realized, somewhere in the evaluation process, that they were looking at something more fundamental.

Controversy @ Noon: Literary Merit (Online) – Replay Available Now!
Thanks to everyone who tuned in! Our replay is now available on our YouTube channel, where you can also listen in as a podcast episode. We say literary merit is a subjective topic, but do we really think that? Is it a matter of taste or is there criteria that defines why some works are thought to carry more literary weight than others? How do we decide which works deserve literary prizes, or what is included in the CanLit canon?

ITSM Software Is Not a Ticketing Upgrade
Buying ITSM software is often framed as a ticketing decision. That framing is too narrow, and it leads teams to compare inboxes, forms, and dashboards while missing the operating problems they need to solve. A capable service management platform does more than record requests. It gives people a reliable way to report issues, route work, manage changes, maintain knowledge, and understand what is happening across IT services.
Your Finance Team Does Not Need Another Dashboard
Financial teams rarely lack numbers. They lack a dependable way to turn those numbers into timely decisions. Data sits across bank accounts, payment tools, spreadsheets, operating systems, and disconnected reports, while leaders still ask why cash moved, whether spending is controlled, and what the business can safely commit to next. The right financial management software does more than collect balances and produce polished charts.

This event is a collaboration between the Alexandra Writers’ Centre and the Writers’ Guild of Alberta.
Hybrid Events Fail When Audiences Split
A hybrid event is not a live event with a video feed attached. It is one experience delivered through two different environments, each with distinct constraints, expectations, and opportunities. When organizers treat remote attendees as observers, participation falls away quickly, and the event becomes harder to justify for everyone involved. The right hybrid events software helps you manage registration, streaming, engagement, content access, and reporting in one coordinated operation.
B2B Ecommerce Is an Operations Decision
A B2B ecommerce site can look polished and still create more work than it removes. If buyers cannot see their agreed pricing, place orders within their purchasing rules, or find the right product details, they will return to email and phone calls. Your team then maintains two order processes, one digital and one manual. That is why buying a B2B ecommerce platform is not primarily a website decision.
Stop Treating Distribution Accounting as Back Office
Distribution businesses do not lose control of their finances only when someone enters the wrong number. They lose control when inventory, purchasing, fulfillment, returns, and accounting each describe a different version of reality. By the time finance finds the discrepancy, the operational decision that created it is often long finished. That is why distribution accounting software should not be treated as a back-office replacement project.

Retention Software Should Change the Next Action
Customer retention is often treated as a reporting problem. A team notices churn after a monthly review, investigates the accounts that left, then promises to engage earlier next time. By then, the relationship has already weakened. The right customer retention software does more than count renewals, cancellations, or inactive customers. It helps your team see meaningful changes in customer behavior, decide who should respond, and make that response part of normal work.
Account Based Marketing Software Cuts Both Ways
Most marketing teams buy ABM software to fix a pipeline problem. What they discover, usually after the contract is signed, is that the software amplifies whatever motion they already have, good or bad. If your targeting is sharp and your sales team is aligned, ABM tools accelerate everything. If neither of those is true, you will spend a lot of money generating activity that looks promising in dashboards and produces nothing in revenue. That tension is what this guide is about.

Content Marketing Agencies Sell Stories Too
You are being pitched by people who make their living crafting persuasive narratives. That is worth pausing on. When you evaluate a content marketing agency, you are not just assessing a service provider. You are watching a demonstration. The way an agency presents itself, explains its process, and responds to your questions is a live sample of what it will eventually do for your brand. If the pitch feels vague, the work will probably be vague too.

Wireframing Software Separates Idea from Reality
You can talk about a product idea for weeks and still have a room full of people imagining different things. A wireframe ends that. It puts structure on the screen before a single line of production code gets written, before a designer spends hours on a UI that the product team was never actually asking for. That is the real value of wireframing software: not pretty mockups, but shared understanding, early enough to change something cheaply. The market for these tools has matured considerably.
Airline Reservation Systems Reward the Buyer Who Prepares
You probably already know that you need a reservation system. What you may not know is how differently these platforms behave once they are under real operational load. The gap between a polished demo and live performance is nowhere wider than in aviation technology. Buying the wrong system does not just inconvenience your team. It locks you into a contract cycle, a data structure, and an integration architecture that will shape your operations for years.
Skills Management Software Reveals What You Actually Have
Most organizations think they know what their people can do. They have job titles, resumes on file, maybe a performance review cycle that runs once a year. But when a project needs a specific combination of capabilities, or when leadership wants to know whether the workforce can support a new direction, the honest answer is usually a guess. That guess is expensive. Skills management software exists to replace that guess with data.

Art Gallery Software Runs Deeper Than Inventory
Most galleries start the same way. A spreadsheet for consignment terms, another for contact details, a folder of JPEG images for client presentations, and an email thread that holds the institutional memory of the business. It works, until it doesn't. The moment you're tracking provenance across multiple consignors, managing relationships with collectors in three time zones, and preparing for a fair while simultaneously running a private viewing, the patchwork falls apart.
Time Tracking Software Tells You More Than Hours
Most teams think of time tracking as a record-keeping exercise. You log the hours, you run the payroll, you move on. But if that is all you are doing with it, you are sitting on a reporting engine and using it as a receipt printer. Time tracking software can tell you where your business actually spends its time, which clients are profitable, which projects are bleeding capacity, and where the hidden drag in your operations lives. The question is whether you are set up to hear any of that.

7:00 PM MT Shelf Life Books 1302 4 St SW Calgary The Single Onion returns with four readers this fall: Herbert Poll Gutiérrez, Richard Harrison, Jaspreet Singh, and Zuleiha Yusuf. Time Clock Software Tracks More Than Hours
You think you know what a time clock does. Someone arrives, punches in, leaves, punches out. Simple math. But the businesses getting the most from time clock software are using it to answer questions that have nothing to do with arrival times. Who is actually on-site right now? Which projects are consuming labor hours beyond what was budgeted? Which locations have chronic late starts? Once you reframe the tool this way, the buying decision looks completely different.
Assisted Living Software Rewards Careful Buyers
You probably already know that running an assisted living community involves more moving parts than almost any other care setting. You have medication schedules, regulatory audits, family communication, billing cycles, and staff coordination all happening at once, often with thin margins and very little room for administrative error. The software you choose to manage those moving parts will either reduce that complexity or add another layer to it.
Call for Jurors: Alberta Literary Awards 2027
The Writers’ Guild of Alberta is calling all readers and writers to join our awards juries this season. This is an opportunity to be “in the room” when the 2027 finalists and winners are chosen. The awards season is an important time on the literary calendar. In 2027, the WGA will present awards in ten categories, plus the city book prizes. We could not do this without the hard work and deliberation of our jurors.
Stop Treating Server Backup as an IT Checkbox
Most businesses set up server backup once, file the confirmation email, and move on. Then a drive fails, ransomware hits, or a misconfigured update wipes a critical directory, and they discover their backup was either incomplete, too old, or simply not restorable in any practical timeframe. The backup existed. The data did not come back. That gap, between having a backup and having a usable backup, is what this guide is about.

September’s feature is Renato Gandia! RSVP here & to sign up for updates on future events from VERS/E.
Server Monitoring Catches Problems You Did Not Know Existed
Your servers are running right now. Probably fine. But "probably fine" is not a monitoring strategy, and the teams that discover that fact the hard way tend to discover it at the worst possible moment. A payment page goes down at midnight. A scheduled job silently fails, corrupting a week's worth of data. A disk creeps toward capacity for six days before someone notices, by which point the application is already throwing errors. None of those events needed to happen.
Church Finances Need More Than Clean Books
A balanced bank account is not proof that your financial operations are working. Your church also needs to show where money came from, what it was intended to support, who approved its use, and how leaders can review those decisions confidently. That is a higher standard than basic bookkeeping, and it is where many software evaluations go wrong. The right church accounting software does more than record income and expenses.
