Pico 4 Ultra
Nivek TT Distinguished Member #1 Images appearing to show new ringless Pico controllers were shared on Chinese social media. www.uploadvr.com Controller images have leaked, appear to be ringless ala Quest 3... As linked from the article though, Bytedance appear to be all in on hand tracking... Bytedance-owned Pico is switching its focus from controllers to hand tracking for its headsets.
Steam Frame
Nivek TT Distinguished Member #1 Hopefully its coming! I've heard people be pretty sure of the chipset (AMD Little Phoenix) and the screens (eMagin micro OLED). Brad has a lengthy round up of everything we know so far... I'm hoping its soon, 2024 at the latest. It really feels we're kicking off a new generation of HMD and I hope Valve will be part of it. Last edited: Nov 2, 2022 #2 Brad offers some analysis in response to the tweet, so hit the link. Hmm...

Xbox Adaptive Controller
#1 Refine your experience with the configurable wired Xbox Adaptive Joystick – designed as a companion for the Xbox Adaptive Controller and other Xbox controllers. www.xbox.com I used to use a Playstation Navigation controller using 3rd party drivers along with a gaming mouse for my FPS gaming as I've never been a fan of WASD keyboard controls. Unfortunately, the drivers became unreliable and I had to give up this setup.
Bigscreen today announced its next-gen Beyond PC VR headset, promising a big boost in field-of-view (FOV) and clarity thanks to the inclusion of new pancake lenses. Bigscreen is also making the slim and light headset more attractive to at-home and enterprise users too thanks to its new...
Praydog’s UEVR Unreal Engine Injector released
#1 Thought this was worth a thread. Free, open source injector out now that converts any Unreal Engine 4/5 game (of which there are thousands) to VR, to varying degrees of success. Spent some time today browsing the compatibility spreadsheet, there are already 500+ games that are ‘working perfectly’, many with YouTube videos attached where it all seems surprisingly polished/impressive.
Pirates VR Jolly Roger
Pirates VR: Jolly Roger is a new action-adventure across a cursed island, and that's out next year on Steam and PlayStation VR2. www.uploadvr.com
Steam Deck Dock
Nivek TT Distinguished Member #1 Think I mentioned I was buying my sister a dock. It arrived today and I couldn't resist having it open for a look. Arrives as a box within a box, so no idea what's inside unlike the Steam Deck itself. Here it is unboxed... Its a small and neat package with much better port placement than my Jsaux. Looking at them side by side... I think you can see the Valve dock lines up perfectly with the bottom edge of the screen whereas the Jsaux obscures a little of the bezel.

Decky Loader Steam Deck Plugins
#1 #3 Metadata is also very good, for non-Steam games it tracks your play time and adds game info from TheGamesDB.net #4 Metadata is also very good, for non-Steam games it tracks your play time and adds game info from TheGamesDB.net This keeps causing my non-Steam games to disappear from SteamOS. A re-install of the plugin resolves it but just something to be aware of. #5 SteamGridDB is now available and allows you to apply artwork from the StreamGridDB from within SteamOS.
Immortals Fenyx Rising
#1 My son's been playing this on his Switch, its got me curious and made me want to play.

Steam Deck Full Shell Replacement
Nivek TT Distinguished Member #1 Reckon this is worth its own thread... Everyone seems to want the Atomic Purple. I think the Chameleon from ExtremeRate looks stunning. I've ordered the white from ExtremeRate My Portal decals are really important to me so I'm hoping I can trim down and re-use with a close colour match. Edit: Just stumbled on some reports that the ExtremeRate White comes with a soft touch coating that goes sticky and horrible in time.
Accessories and gadgets thread
#1 Thought a thread for steam deck accessories - chargers, cases, skins and so on might be worthwhile? I'll start with this one! I wanted a case similar to the jsaux one with extra storage space at the bottom of the case for cables, etc and a microSD storage pouch. Also doubles up as an angled stand when out and about Anyway, the Jsaux one has been out of stock for ages ...
AYANEO Flip DS
Well this is interesting... Not a Steam Deck 'me too' but something actually different and exciting. Emulation of Wii U or DS is obvs but can definitely see other uses for that second touchscreen, whether touch pad or keyboard. Love the clamsheel design.
MSI Claw
Nelbert Prominent Member #1 MSI have decided it’s time to join the handheld party. A few hours after their short pointless Instagram teaser for CES 2024 announcement the details have started showing up. The biggest difference is they’re going with an Intel Core Ultra 7 155H with 8 Xe core Arc graphics and 32Gb ram. Be interesting to see how it holds up against AMD. Like Asus, no trackpad, so navigating windows is going to be another touchscreen or external mouse setup, if it has a touchscreen.
Pimax Crystal
Nivek TT Distinguished Member #1 Launch event streaming from 9pm this evening... #2 This could be the one.... #3 #4 #5 Very promising! We just need some independent reviews, but if their claims are all true this will be the headset for me. #6 I'm sure they had stated a $1800 figure in the past. Looks like they're gunning for the Quest Pro's price bracket. Website is live: Crystal | Pimax No release date though... how very Pimax... Last edited: #7 Wireless is good to see at least.

What VR game are you playing thread
KingD Prominent Member #1 Just wondering what you are all playing at the minute, just got started on Budget Cuts, enjoying it so far although only a few levels in, wasnt sure what to expect but havent played a stealth game in a while and its something different on VR. Also just got round to playing Moss prior to that, really enjoyable little title I thought, the DLC was very good too and Im hoping for a sequel. #2 Going through Alyx again with the commentary.
Emulation on Steam Deck
Nivek TT Distinguished Member #1 Configure your SteamOS, Steam Deck and Rog Ally Emulators www.emudeck.com By far the easiest way to set up emulation on the Steam Deck is by using the combination of Emudeck to install and autoconfigure the emulators and then Steam Rom Manager to embed the games into the Steam OS interface. Steam ROM Manager is installed as part of Emudeck. To get the best performance for your emulators there are some things you can do.
Meta Quest 3
Nivek TT Distinguished Member #1 Coming next year... Quest 3 will be priced around $300-$500 but isn’t launching this year. In an interview with Stratechery, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg said “it’s not this year, but there will be a Quest 3 and that’s in the price range of $300, $400, or $500, that zone” uploadvr.com #2 Coming next year... Quest 3 will be priced around $300-$500 but isn’t launching this year.
What games have you completed and what game have you just completed (or played) on your Steam deck?
#1 For me, the Steam Deck has been a revolutionary device. Not because its allowed me to play game I normally play on the go, but because its allowed me a form factor and medium to enjoy games I would have NEVER played on a TV. For this thread, please list games you've played on your Steam Deck and the last game you've completed on the SD.
Lenovo Legion Go
Nelbert Prominent Member #1 X86 handheld with Nintendo Switch style removable controllers. It may come to nothing as the previous Legion Play, while making it into the China website never actually went into production. Another Steam Deck, ASUS ROG Ally competitor enters the fray.
Game Recommendation & Bargain thread
Goooner Outstanding Member #1 Now we have our own subsection of the forum and as a soon to be new Steam Deck owner, I thought it would be a good idea to have a dedicated thread where people could post game bargains or recommendations for stuff that people may have missed. Also any requirements that said games may need to get them to run in the first place or run better. I’ve a vague idea about Proton, but there are several versions aren’t there?
Steam Deck
Ono Prominent Member #1 Now this came as a surprise! Portable access to the 1,400 games in my Steam library is too enticing to ignore! £349 - £549 depending on storage choice. Ono #2 Yep keeping an eye on this, alot of games i want to play on my switch are games i can get alot cheaper on steam and on a device that will probably play them better. I might actually pull the trigger on this one. PSN: Bonta3000 Xbox Live: Bonta3000 Steam: Bonta3000 Origin: BontaKun3000 #3 Was just reading about this.
BigScreen Beyond
Nivek TT Distinguished Member #1 There are some really exciting ideas in this thing. Linus seems to really like it... Even tho the cable is feather lite it still bothers me it exists. And no mixed reality, so utter trash then. #2 Personally, having to use base stations these days really puts me off any headset. Inside out tracking works perfectly fine what I need. The other thing taht puts me off this is resale value - the lack of. WIth its fixed IPD and molded face 'cushion'.
Assassin's Creed Nexus VR
Nivek TT Distinguished Member #1 Assassin’s Creed Nexus is an impressively complete Ubisoft game, even if not all those parts stick the landing in VR. www.ign.com Reviews are dropping and it looks good... Hope we see it come to Steam VR. Caljo Distinguished Member #2 I played the first main mission last night. First impression - it’s bloody brilliant! It takes me back to the thrill of playing the original AC for the first time, with its signature parkour, stealth and combat.
Walking Dead: Saints & Sinners
#1 This is reviewing very well, one example: The Walking Dead: Saints & Sinners review The duck button weirdness puts me off a day 1 purchase and I'm a little hesitant as it's smooth locomotion only, though I'm starting to accept I'm going to have to get used to this. 15 to 20 hours of gameplay apparently, so appears to be a full fat experience. I'm very tempted but might give it a while to see if the physical duck issue is resolved.
Pistol Whip
#1 Anyone tried this yet? I usually have no interest in rhythm games but this has got my attention, though it seems a little expensive. Also a big fan of Cloudhead Games so far. Was hoping to pick it up at the weekend but never found any time. Hopefully tomorrow evening. Pistol Whip is an unstoppable action-rhythm FPS. Journey through a cinematic bullet hell powered by a breakneck soundtrack to become the ultimate action hero legend. store.steampowered.com
Asgard's Wrath
#1 So anyone tried this yet? Melee combat and Zelda style dungeon puzzles are right up my street. I'm quite excited by it and reports are that it plays very well with Revive, so I should be able to enjoy it from my Index. David of UploadVR reckons the best VR game yet: Asgard's Wrath Review: VR's Most Ambitious And Robust Game Yet Only criticisms I've come across, which were also made in the UploadVR review, are of the combat.

Nivek's New Builds
Nivek TT Distinguished Member #2 Love those corsair air cases. My mate has the smaller version that he can't fit his gpu in so he hacked a part of the case off and still can't close the side. Hope your build goes better than that. [emoji106] LG OLED 65CX6LA | Arcam AVR390 | MA Apex A40 Front LCR | MA Bronze FX | BK Monolith | ATV4K #3 Air740 . . i got told by a shop they wernt out yet! Ive been holding off to get one. Cant wait to see it built.
Storefronts and HMDs
It's probably true that the Oculus store has more exclusives and apparently locks out other headsets, though Pimax seemed to find a way in and Revive works very well for most things. Steam on the other hand appears to welcome all HMDs though I've seen some Rift owners be unhappy without 'native' Rift support. With PSVR and even LaboVR now, it's not just the Oculus and Steam storefronts offering us our games.
Unpopular Opinion: PC VR will never be mainstream!
PC gaming isn't mainstream. It ebbs and flows in popularity, you hear about stats like there are more World of Warcraft subscribers than Xbox Live subscribers, but PC Gaming does not occupy the masses' minds in the way Nintendo, Playstation and Xbox do. PC Gaming does not create the big money that the consoles do, though it does create enough to stay relevant. In terms of hardware sales, most seem to generally agree the PSVR soundly thrashed all PC VR headsets. But I think this is ok.

Retroflag SuperPi Case Review
Its been a couple of years since I was inspired by my disappointment of the SNES mini to build myself a Retropie console. Its not important for everyone but for me looks were very important! Unfortunately, at the time, there were no cases capturing the look of the SNES, certainly not the Euro / Jap SNES.

Woohoo, New Toy, X34p on the way!
Finally sorting out a PC monitor. A Predator X34p from Amazon Warehouse, coming tomorrow Should be a big upgrade from the 1080p 40" LCD TV I currently use. Looking forward to higher framerates and lower latency. First snag, I currently run a 10m HDMI from my PC to my wall mounted TV.
Gear VR Lens Mod
The Vive suub-reddit is now loaded with people replacing the lens in their Vives and Vive Pros with the lens from the 2016 Gear VR, Gear VR (2016)...

Aperation Apex
Saw this in Mike's weak review of the Vive Pro and it looked interesting. Steam user reviews describe it as TheBlu the game, which sounds awesome....

GMG now offering £2 credit if you pre-order this game. This offer wasn't on when I pre-ordered on 12th January so I've submitted a ticket asking if I'll get the credit as otherwise it seems a little unfair to give better rewards to people who purchase closer to the time rather than people who place orders with plenty of time. Edit: Wow, they've replied already and added the credit. Great customer service.

Question - Wired Smart Home Security System
I've a very old wired home security system comprising number pads, PIRs, door sensors, alarms indoors and out. It works very well but when compared to my Nest Thermostat and Ring Doorbell seems rather behind the times. I was broken into a couple of years ago.
