Red Lines with Sufuyan Ojeifo The politics of Ondo State is entering its endgame early. And the script is already written, if you know where to look. After my last two pieces — “No Lotus for Governor Aiyedatiwa” and “How Governor Aiyedatiwa Happened in Ondo” — the pushback was predictable. There were media interventions designed to rewrite recent history, and WhatsApp messages calling the analysis “100 per cent correct.” But one phone call mattered more.
One of the oldest temptations in politics has endured through every generation: that power can only ever be called by a clenched fist. To most, authority is felt to be inadequate unless it threatens, stifles dissent and commands submission without question. Yet history has consistently taught us that the most powerful leaders are not those who swing the largest hammer, but those strong enough to keep it in a holster.
Red Lines with Sufuyan Ojeifo This is a sequel to my July 7, 2026 piece: “No Lotus for Governor Aiyedatiwa.” No Lotus for Governor Aiyedatiwa, By Sufuyan Ojeifo I’m writing about Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa again. Not because I’m fixated. Not because Ondo politics is my bedtime story. But because politics, like comedy, keeps repeating the punchline until you finally laugh.
