I have a multi-SSD RAID array making up a 2 TB boot volume today on a well-outfitted Precision T5500 Workstation. I'm running Windows 8.1 x64. I'd like to add more SSDs to double the size of C: to 4 TB. This will both increase performance and free space. My RAID controller, a Highpoint model, can handle up to 8 SSDs. I'm aware that 2 TB is the limit for an MBR volume, and that Windows expects UEFI to boot to a greater than 2 TB volume.
1. I thought I read in one of these threads something about deleted and recreating the icon cache (see batch script below). How on could that possibly be related to this?? I believe there has been a lot of conjecture and shots in the dark, and maybe even some intentional misinformation posted on the subject.
