Norman Badger has spent more than thirty years building his career with Publix, an employee-owned grocery chain in the United States. His steady rise within the company has been achieved through hard work, consistency, and a clear commitment to leadership. Over the years, he has assumed new responsibilities that have prepared him for his current role as Senior Vice President of Retail Operations. In this role, he focuses on guiding store operations, supporting leadership teams, and ensuring company standards are carried out across all locations.
Publix operates over 1,400 stores across eight southeastern states, with the majority in Florida and others in Alabama, Georgia, Kentucky, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Virginia. He began his journey in 1995 as a front-service clerk in Aiken, South Carolina. After working in several hourly roles, he became a store manager in 2007. In that role, he managed budgets, directed department leaders and staff, and created a positive environment for both employees and customers. His promotion to District Manager in 2014 gave him responsibility for multiple stores across the region. He collaborated with managers to uphold operational standards, execute company strategies, and ensure consistency across all locations. By 2017, he was promoted again to Regional Director, overseeing several districts and focusing on long-term planning, operational alignment, and leadership development.
In 2020, Norman Badger, Publix, became Vice President of Product Business Development for the Bakery and Meat departments. He was responsible for expanding product categories, building supplier relationships, negotiating agreements, and improving supply chain and merchandising processes. His work helped align product strategies with consumer expectations and company objectives. In 2024, he advanced to his current role as Senior Vice President of Retail Operations, where he oversees the company’s entire retail footprint. He leads regional and store-level teams, ensures service goals are met, and contributes to the company’s long-term growth and success. He values the people he works with and remains grateful for the opportunities he has been given throughout his career.
He was born in Jacksonville, FL, and married his high school sweetheart in 2001. Together, they have a son and have lived in cities such as Atlanta, Charleston, and Raleigh before returning to Florida. Sports are an essential part of his personal life. He and his son share a strong passion for football, supporting the Steelers and Penn State. They make it a tradition to attend games each season, which has strengthened their bond. In 2023, they traveled to Glendale, Arizona, to watch the Kansas City Chiefs play the Eagles, an experience they will not forget. His son also plays JV football in multiple positions and enjoys basketball. Watching him on the field and court brings pride, and over time, his son has collected keepsakes from their trips that represent meaningful memories.
