Abstract High-temperature cuprate superconductors remain a key platform for studying the competition and coexistence of emergent quantum phases of matter. These include non-s-wave superconductivity with a high transition temperature, non-Fermi-liquid transport and the pseudogap regime. How superconductivity emerges alongside and competes with the pseudogap remains an open question.
Abstract The Mott transition is observed experimentally in materials that are magnetically frustrated so that long-range order does not hide the Mott transition at finite temperature. The Hubbard model on the triangular lattice at half filling is a paradigmatic model to study the interplay of interactions and frustration on the normal-state phase diagram.
