Advice on sound absorption panels (or not?)
Have a recent HT set up that I am very happy with. Not a rich man, so did what I could afford, tried to glean as much info mostly from this forum, and apply with my own time. Has been a great learning experience. Very happy with the video side of my set up, and honestly, very happy as well with the most of the audio. Sans perhaps I am missing dialling in reflections a bit better. 90/10 HT to music.
Sony STR-DN1050 auto cal bass distance wrong?
#1 · Just added 2 front heights to my system (5.2 to 7.2, no way to do rear surrounds, still have side surrounds). Ran auto cal. Everything sounds very good. Absolutely no problems at all. Ran Blade Runner 2049 UHD bluray after auto cal and couldn’t be happier. Question is more out of curiosity. The auto cal was spot on with every speaker distance wise (within an inch on all 7 speakers) “except” for the 2 subs.
OSD AVR menu help
A little long. Apologies in advance. Budget built HT Projector Benq HT 2060 HDR 10 (1080p w/4k support) 2 x 2.0 HDMI (2.2 hdcp) inputs. 1x optical out. Leg 1 Currently run ATV 4K 2 gen, 3’ via UHD hdmi to PJ input 1. Optical out (raw) from PJ to Sony 7.2 AVR STR-DN1050 (just bought off of Kijiji for 50 bucks to replace Yamaha 5.1 htr 6140) optical in. All works great. ATV set to 4K sdr with match frame rate and range on.
Help for analog challenged
Currently have a modest HT set up that have set up over the last year. Retired and have time but dwindling assets, so have done with a keen eye on budget. Anyway, have the following: BenQ HT2060.
Hisense H6570G possible solution for known not turning on issue
If anyone is still (or perhaps in the future) having issues with the Hisense H6570G (H78G model in Canada) turning on then immediately turning off, I had the same issue happen this week. (First week July 2024). After copious amounts of reading material (usual unplug, change remote batteries yada, yada) it was suggested as a last resort to “change out mother/main board”.
4-8 Ohm speaker in a 6-8 Ohm amp?
Need a little help understanding if my current older (but sparingly used) Yamaha HTR-6140 (specs in attached pic) will handle 2 pair of Micca MB42X (front L/R and surround L/R) and a single Micca MB42X-C (center)? (Specs in other pic). Where I am confused is the Ohm rating of the Micca’s stating 4-8 Ohm? The Yamaha can only switch between 8 or 6 Ohms.

#2 · I think it will bring some interesting data points to the party to support those that felt much of what you read on forums is a massive fanboi contingency baking brands that haven't done much to innovate in the space over the last decade. I'm happy to see it. I typically lean pretty heavily into their reviews of TVs so I was bummed when I was in the market for a new PJ recently and discovered they didn't have any info for that segment. More information for consumers is always better.
Forced 4k and Viewport/frame interpretation
Viewport/frames confusion noobie Have a question: I know just enough to get me in trouble. Retired with too much time on my hands. Recently built a theatre room in basement. Room is pitch black when I need. Built my own 100” fixed screen. Drop ceiling accessible so lots of mounting options for pj. Just bought a Benq TH575 (1080p full) because it was affordable on my budget, I don’t need native apps, could spend time ceiling mounting to the pj’s restrictive throw ratio and exacting center line.
