Anharmonicity and structural phase transition in the Mott insulator ${\mathrm{Cu}}_{2}{\mathrm{P}}_{2}{\mathrm{O}}_{7}$
Ab initio investigations of the structural, electronic, and dynamical properties of the high-temperature β phase of copper pyrophosphate were performed using density functional theory. The electronic band structure shows the Mott insulating state due to electron correlations in the copper ions. By calculating phonon dispersion relations, the soft mode at the A point of the Brillouin zone was revealed, showing the dynamical instability of the β phase at low temperatures.
Magnetic Behavior of the Arrays of Iron Cylindrical Nanostructures: Atomistic Spin Model Simulations
Abstract : Cylindrical ferromagnetic nanowires are of particular interest in nanomaterials science due to various manufacturing methods and a wide range of applications in nanotechnology, with special attention given to those with diameters less than the single domain limit.
Simulations of Temperature-Dependent Magnetization in FexGd100−x (20 ≤ x ≤ 80) Alloys
Abstract : Theoretical calculations of the temperature-dependent magnetization in FeGd alloys were done with the use of Heisenberg-type atomistic spin Hamiltonian and Monte Carlo algorithms. The random allocation of atoms in the desired crystal structure was used for simulations of magnetically amorphous alloys. Performed calculations for the two different crystal structures have shown an important role of coordination number on the observed critical temperature and compensation point.
