Cantwell Park
Cantwell Park is a widespread park located in the heart of Pinjarra. This park has well-maintained grassy slopes rolling towards the Murray river that it runs alongside. The park is within walking distance of the Pinjarra bakery and is equipped with benches for patrons to enjoy their baked goods in the park. The park is suitable for a wide variety of ages.
Varsity Burgers
Gigantic American style burgers. With Varsity stores popping up across Perth, I knew I had to experience the hype around these burgers. I dined at the Northbridge store and have since been to the store located in the Waterford shopping centre. The Northbridge store is by far my favorite of the two. It has much more aesthetic and a very easy-going vibe. Though the quality of the food is consistent across both stores.
Caversham Wildlife Park
Tucked within Whiteman Park in the Swan Valley about half an hour's drive from Perth is the Caversham Wildlife Park. Having no clear memory of ever having visited when I was growing up in Perth (it was much smaller and located elsewhere), I was looking forward to finally visiting the park in its Whiteman Park location. As a full day out it's a great one as you have the option of taking in the animals at Caversham then exploring Whiteman Park as well.
Dolphin Discovery Centre
Located in Koombana Bay in Bunbury is the Dolphin Discovery Centre. It is open from 8am daily and it is well worth your while to get there early. From 8am the Discovery Centre volunteers are out on the beaches looking out into the Indian Ocean for their daily visitors. Dolphins regularly come up for a swim within one metre of visitors. Once a dolphin enters the interaction zone, a bell is rung so if you are inside the discovery centre you can quickly come out to the beach for a look.
Caversham Wildlife Park
Get up close with your furry and feathered friends. Caversham is situated out in Whiteman Park and an easy drive from Perth or Fremantle. However I would not suggest taking the bus as it is a very long walk to the park entrance from the bus stop! The park has multiple attractions, including a walk-in kangaroo enclosure, sheep sheering and a koala pen, giving ample photo opportunities and up close interactions.
Kings Park, Perth
You haven't been to Perth if you haven't been to Kings Park. Located on the western edge of the Perth CBD and partly occupying the high ground known as Mount Eliza, Kings Park is one of the largest inner city parks in the world and the most popular destination in Western Australia, attracting more than 5 million visitors annually.
Scarborough Beach
Perth has got plenty of beaches, and perhaps once you've seen one beach you've seen them all, but I feel maybe that isn't the case. Scarborough Beach can be reached using the bus route 400 from Stirling station. It was the second beach I've visited since arriving in Perth, the first being at Fremantle, and has been one of the most pleasant lazy days I've had so far.
