What was your first job as a journalist?

As a photojournalist for a local magazine.

Have you ever used a typewriter?

No, I'm not old enough for that!

How is social media changing news?

More people are getting their news from social media than traditional media like TV, radio and newspapers.

Alex Burchill from Sherlock Holmes

What does it mean to be a journalist?

It means providing a voice to the voiceless and providing a platform for people who otherwise would feel they wouldn't have one.

How do you prefer to be pitched on stories?

Over the phone or in person.

What tools and software do you use to do your job?

Word Press, Adobe, email, Teams, Zoom

What's your favorite social network?

Instagram

Did you work for your high school newspaper? If so, what did you do there?

Yes, I started off as a reporter and later became editor.

What story are you most proud of writing or working on?

A wide-ranging interview with the Police and Crime Commissioner for Lincolnshire, Marc Jones, which exposed a funding shortfall in the force.

What advice can you offer to aspiring journalists?

Get as much work experience as you can.

When's the best time to pitch you?

During the morning between 9 and 11am.

What's your favorite drink?

Coffee

When you're not at a computer, where are you most likely to be?

Out and about speaking to people and finding stories.
