Why did you become a journalist?
I wanted to be a doctor my whole life, then I realized that all I wanted to do was help people. Journalism is that for me.
What story are you most proud of writing or working on?
A heath series in college that looked at underserved and underreported health topics: Missouri Health Talks.
When's the best time to pitch you?
Afternoon.
What's the worst pitch you ever got?
Probably something I wrote in J-school. Pitching takes practice.
When you're not at a computer, where are you most likely to be?
Playing the guitar or being love-bombed by my cat!
Aside from your own, what's your favorite publication to read?
NPR, BBC and PBS.
What's the most common misperception about your beat?
That people with disabilities all face the same obstacles. As a disabled reporter I'm trying to dispel these stereotypes.
