Diagnostic feasibility study of stereoscopic optical palpation for breast tumour margin assessment - BMC Cancer
Our study included breast specimens from 48 patients undertaking BCS. From these specimens, 169 margins were scanned and 282 ROIs were selected for classification. In total, two ROIs were selected on 113 margins, while only one ROI was selected on the remaining 56 margins due to limited areas with valid stress measurement. After co-registration, 247 ROIs were included in this study.
Diagnostic feasibility study of stereoscopic optical palpation for breast tumour margin assessment - BMC Cancer
Abstract Optical elastography has been developed for intraoperative tumour margin assessment during breast-conserving surgery (BCS), based on the elevated stiffness of tumour. It aims to assist the surgeon in removing all cancerous tissue in a single operation, reducing re-excision surgeries and potentially lowering recurrence rate.
