What does it mean to be a journalist?
To me, being a journalist means balancing a commitment to entertain, or engage, a reader, alongside a committment to inform, and relay the truth. I'm a firm in narrative—the way we understand the world around us is through stories. That's why I think the best journalism doesn't just present information, it takes you on a journey.
Why did you become a journalist?
Because I love writing and stories. It also gives me an excuse to keep asking people 'Why?' without being uninvited from events.
What's the best pitch you ever got?
The best pitches always have a person element.
When you're not at a computer, where are you most likely to be?
Getting outside, enjoying the Lake District with my two dogs.
