9 Books on the Complexities of Mother-Daughter Relationships
9 Books on the Complexities of Mother-Daughter Relationships Vanessa Hua, author of ‘A River of Stars,’ on all the hardship and joy of mothering daughters After I became pregnant, after I gave birth, after I nursed, I felt as if I’d stepped through a threshold, into another world of emotion, of ideas, of experience that I hadn’t known and was eager to explore in my writing.

What a profound question. Even when immigrants come from different countries, different backgrounds, they have shared experiences: the struggles of assimilation, the desire for a better life for themselves and for their children, the push-pull between cultures. I don't know if all immigrants fear being forced to leave, but there is sense, perhaps, if you appear "different," then you'll never be accepted and your loyalty will eternally will be questioned.

To get people to drink less, Victorian Englanders built tons of libraries. It didn’t work
Still waiting. The old earth isn't so bad though, get somewhere different for a break if you can manage it. A Forrest, a hilltop, a back country road, it helps. After a certain point I figured they weren't coming for us so I turned to damage limitation, it starts with the self and limiting the exposure to the nonsense the population wants to infect us with. Grow something you can eat.. even if it's only an onion ..haha, that sounds ridiculous..

The New American Inequality
For American families, income inequality affects nearly everything else, from academic achievement to long-term health. Here’s how the problems work together—and how we can solve them. The earnings gap between the rich and poor — has been growing in the United States since the 1970s. As of 2014, the average income of someone in the nation’s top 0.1 percent was over 184 times the average income of someone in the bottom 90 percent.
All-Access Play - re:form - Medium
At an unusual children’s gym in Berkeley, the swings are as varied and fanciful as any you’d find at Burning Man: a striped blue-and-red basket that whirls like a dervish, a canvas cocoon shaped like a teardrop, and a capacious hammock with folds you could disappear into. My 3-year-old son rocks on a sturdy plastic swing before racing off to a zip line. A few feet away, an older boy stares dreamily, draped on a padded rectangular swing that glides smoothly as a metronome, pushed by an aide.
Building a Better Baby Bottle – re:form – Medium
“In the U.S., people said ‘This is strange, this is funny,’’ said Lukas Scherrer, Mimijumi’s design director. But the bottle caught on. For almost as long as women have been having babies, it seems inventors have been trying to build a better bottle. Yet I was surprised to learn from these fascinating medical papers that certain design goals – to replicate a mother’s breast, to mimic its flow – remained the same, even as the form has evolved.
