You can tell Europe to help protect street photography
Think about the state of digital photography 15 years ago, on 22 May 2001 say. It’s about a week after Mark Zuckerberg’s 17th birthday, a few years before Flickr, Instagram is almost a decade away and most people haven’t even heard of DSLR cameras — the first consumer-targetted DSLR, the FinePix S1 Pro, was only launched just over a year earlier. Obviously, I didn’t pick that date at random — that’s when the Copyright Directive (2001/29/EC) was made, entering into force one month later.
In what order should the Star Wars movies be watched?
I just read a very good blog post arguing that Machete Order is the best way to watch them: Next time you want to introduce someone to Star Wars for the first time, watch the films with them in this order: IV, V, II, III, VI. Notice something? Yeah, Episode I is gone.
Street photography in Europe and Freedom of Panorama
In 2014, German Pirate Party MEP Julia Reda was tasked with a review of the Copyright Directive (2001/29/EC). She recommended liberalising and harmonising a bunch of things, including reconciling the fragmented state of Freedom of Panorama shown in this map, to allow a unified right to take and use photos of cultural works located in public spaces — buildings, sculptures and public art.
Freedom of Panorama is under attack
Since being elected to the European Parliament in May 2014, Pirate Party MEP Julia Reda has been named rapporteur of the Parliament’s review of the Copyright Directive (2001/29/EC).

Why does Londo respond differently to Kosh in the Season 2 finale?
There are a couple of ideas in the analysis of the episode in the Lurker's Guide to B5: Londo failed to see Kosh when he revealed himself. Does this extend to all Centauri, or is it peculiar to Londo? If it is the former then it suggests that either the Vorlons have not openly visited the Centauri (why?) or that their worship of their deceased Emperors as gods has diminished the effect of exposure to Vorlons. If it is the latter then it must be because of Londo's association with the Shadows.
Why are only the Normandy landings referred to as D-Day?
The D merely stands for Day; in French, it's referred to as "Jour J". The term is indeed used for other D-Days, just not in regular English conversation. The terms D-Day and H-Hour are used for the day and hour on which a combat attack or operation is to be initiated. They designate the day and hour of the operation when the day and hour have not yet been determined, or where secrecy is essential. For a given operation, the same D-Day and H-Hour apply for all units participating in it.
