Compiling agate.

Not for writing, but I toyed with one on display once.

Immediacy - In today’s news world, the ability to get info out to audiences via social media changes how quickly news is expected by readers

What does it mean to be a journalist?

Giving voice to the voiceless, creating community and recognizing deserving individuals.

What tools and software do you use to do your job?

InDesign, Photoshop, WordPress

Who do you wish followed you?

Everyone in the local area that I cover.

Did you work for your high school newspaper? If so, what did you do there?

I was the business manager in charge of selling advertising space and circulating the print edition to the public.

What advice can you offer to aspiring journalists?

Don't try to be too eloquent. Sometimes simplicity is best.

When's the best time to pitch you?

Late afternoon via email.

What's the best pitch you ever got?

"Wanna go to Nevada?"

What's the worst pitch you ever got?

Probably something that began along the lines of "Owen, My granddaughter is very special."

When you're not at a computer, where are you most likely to be?

I also coach adult swimming, so I'm often out on the pool deck or in the water.
