Adipose Tissue in SARS‐CoV‐2 Viral Tropism, Viral Replication, and the Concept of a Viral Reservoir: An Update
What is already known? ○ It is now approximately 5 years since our first review article in Obesity outlining a hypothesis that adipose tissue may serve as a reservoir for SARS-CoV-2 tropism and replication, thus amplifying the inflammatory response in individuals with obesity. What does this review add? ○ We provide a contemporized view of the literature which demonstrates SARS-CoV-2 presence in adipocytes derived from infected humans and a range of preclinical animal models.
Adapting wild biodiversity conservation approaches to conserve agrobiodiversity - Nature Sustainability
|
Abstract The global biodiversity crisis in agriculture is overlooked compared with that in wild systems. This must change if we are to safeguard domesticated plant diversity and meet global sustainable development and biodiversity goals. In this Perspective, we review tools developed through decades of wild biodiversity conservation and provide a framework for adapting and applying these for agrobiodiversity conservation.
