Steve Cortes on Texas foreign physicians: 'We better expand and improve american medical schools'
Steve Cortes, Founder and President of League of American Workers, said rapid enhancements to American medical education are needed to mitigate future challenges arising from excessive diversity programs and reliance on international doctors. "we better expand and improve american medical schools, and quickly — or we face huge problems in coming years," said Cortes.
Frequency, kinetics and determinants of viable SARS-CoV-2 in bioaerosols from ambulatory COVID-19 patients infected with the Beta, Delta or Omicron variants | Nature Communications
Abstract Airborne transmission of SARS-CoV-2 aerosol remains contentious. Importantly, whether cough or breath-generated bioaerosols can harbor viable and replicating virus remains largely unclarified. We performed size-fractionated aerosol sampling (Andersen cascade impactor) and evaluated viral culturability in human cell lines (infectiousness), viral genetics, and host immunity in ambulatory participants with COVID-19.
Opioid crisis: Keep advocating to make overdose antidote Narcan widely available Original
A few months ago, my wife, who is pregnant, was told by her pharmacist that her prenatal vitamins were no longer covered by her insurance. She would now have to pay $150 out of pocket for a month’s supply. When I called our insurance company to inquire, I was informed that because the medication was available over the counter, it would no longer be covered. At the end of March, the Food and Drug Administration made naloxone, the medication that reverses opioid-related overdoses, over the counter.
Wildfire and degradation accelerate northern peatland carbon release - Nature Climate Change
Abstract The northern peatland carbon sink plays a vital role in climate regulation; however, the future of the carbon sink is uncertain, in part, due to the changing interactions of peatlands and wildfire. Here, we use empirical datasets from natural, degraded and restored peatlands in non-permafrost boreal and temperate regions to model net ecosystem exchange and methane fluxes, integrating peatland degradation status, wildfire combustion and post-fire dynamics.

Histiocytic Lineages: Development and Identification The cellular spectrum covered by the term histiocyte has evolved over time.
Mitotic Index Is Predictive for Survival for Canine Cutaneous Mast Cell Tumors
Mast cell tumors (MCTs) are one of the most frequently occurring malignant tumors in dogs, representing 7–21% of all cutaneous tumors in the species.8,9,24 This is in direct contrast to humans where neoplastic disease of mast cells is extremely rare. The reason for such a high incidence of mast cell neoplasia in the dog is not known, but it is clear that this cancer represents a source of frustration for both dog owners and veterinarians.

Enhanced Effective Thickness Method for Cantilevered Laminated Glass Balustrades
Cantilevered laminated glass balustrades supported by bearing in continuous base shoes are among the most ordinary applications of structural glass. This paper was first presented at GPD 2019 by Adam Nizich and Laura Galuppi. The performance of laminated glass is commonly approximated with the Effective Thickness Method by Bennison, adapted from composite sandwich theory by Wölfel for a simply-supported beam under uniformly distributed load.

Clinical characteristics and outcome in dogs with small cell T‐cell intestinal lymphoma
Small cell intestinal lymphoma has not been well characterized in dogs. The objective of this study was to describe clinical characteristics and outcome in dogs with small cell intestinal lymphoma. We hypothesized that affected dogs would have prolonged survival compared with high‐grade gastrointestinal (GI) lymphoma. Pathology records were searched for dogs with histologically confirmed small cell GI lymphoma.

CORONARY ANGIOGRAPHY AND REVASCULARISATION AFTER CABG IN BRITISH COLUMBIA: INCIDENCE, PREDICTORS AND OUTCOMES
To view the full text, please login as a subscribed user or purchase a subscription. Click here to view the full text on ScienceDirect. CABG has been preferred over PCI in the management of complex left main and multi-vessel coronary artery disease through reductions in mortality and repeat revascularization procedures in randomized clinical trials. However longer-term follow-up studies have shown that bypass graft patency reduces significantly with time.
Pasture Management and Riparian Buffers Reduce Erosion
Sediment is the number one pollutant in U.S. waterways. Over grazing can increase soil erosion from pastures as well as sediment loading into aquatic systems. Grazing management and buffer strips may reduce erosion, however, few studies evaluating these practices have been reported.

Effects of Grazing Management and Buffer Strips on Metal Runoff from Pastures Fertilized with Poultry Litter
Metal runoff from fields fertilized with poultry litter may pose a threat to aquatic systems. Buffer strips located adjacent to fields may reduce nutrients and solids in runoff. However, scant information exists on the long-term effects of buffer strips combined with grazing management on metal runoff from pastures. The objective of this study was to assess the 12-yr impact of grazing management and buffer strips on metal runoff from pastures receiving poultry litter.
Long-term Effects of Grazing Management and Buffer Strips on Soil Erosion from Pastures
High grazing pressure can lead to soil erosion in pastures, causing increased sediment delivery to waterways. The objectives of this research were to evaluate the impact of grazing management and buffer strips on soil erosion by assessing soil physical properties, hydrology, and sediment loads from pastures fertilized with broiler litter. Field studies were conducted for 12 yr on 15 small watersheds.
Necrotizing Meningoencephalitis in Five Chihuahua Dogs
Introduction In the dog, meningoencephalitis has been associated with a variety of infectious agents including bacteria, fungi, protozoa, rickettsia, parasites, and viruses.14 However, several other syndromes with a nonsuppurative idiopathic meningoencephalitis have been described, including necrotizing meningoencephalitis (NME) in a series of Pug and Maltese dogs and individually in other breeds including a Shih Tzu, a Chihuahua, a Papillon, and a Pekingese dog.1,2,7,13,16,19 NME is...
