Winter haze amplification by aerosol hygroscopic growth over eastern Indo- Gangetic Plain - Communications Earth & Environment
Abstract Frequent occurrences of widespread winter haze over Northern India largely appear to originate from exceedingly high concentrations of fine particulate matter from anthropogenic emissions. However, the underlying mechanisms driving winter haze in Northern India are not well understood. This study employed a synergy of satellite and reanalysis data from 2006 to 2021 to assess the role of hygroscopic growth of aerosol optical depth in winter haze over the eastern Indo-Gangetic Plain.
Effect of nuclear structure on particle production in relativistic heavy-ion collisions using a multiphase transport model
We report a study of transverse momentum (pT) spectra for π±, K±, p, and p¯ in isobar, Ru4496+Ru4496 and Zr4096+Zr4096, collisions at sNN=200GeV using a multiphase transport model. Particle yields (dN/dy), average transverse momenta (〈pT〉), and particle ratios are reported in various collision systems with different parametrizations of the Woods-Saxon distribution.

Seasonal progression of the deposition of black carbon by snowfall at Ny-Ålesund, Spitsbergen
Deposition of black carbon (BC) aerosol in the Arctic lowers snow albedo, thus contributing to warming in the region. However, the processes and impacts associated with BC deposition are poorly understood because of the scarcity and uncertainties of measurements of BC in snow with adequate spatiotemporal resolution. We sampled snowpack at two sites (11 m and 300 m above sea level) at Ny-Ålesund, Spitsbergen, in April 2013.
Evaluation of ground-based black carbon measurements by filter-based photometers at two Arctic sites
Long-term measurements of the light absorption coefficient (b ) obtained with a particle soot absorption photometer (PSAP), b (PSAP), have been previously reported for Barrow, Alaska, and Ny-Ålesund, Spitsbergen, in the Arctic. However, the effects on b of other aerosol chemical species co-existing with black carbon (BC) have not been critically evaluated. Furthermore, different mass absorption cross section (MAC) values have been used to convert b to BC mass concentration (M ?=?b /MAC).
