I have been working in journalism since I was 16 years old, starting with collecting high school sports stats for stories at the (Morning) Journal in Lorain, Ohio. Worked primarily as a copy editor/news editor for seven newspapers, currently running a digital news site in Huntington, NY.
Co-founder of the American Copy Editors Society, a journalism organization in its early days.
I believe journalism can be a force for good, even though we often fall short. I believe journalists need to be stronger, louder and bigger to distinguish ourselves from those who think they are journalists but ignore all the standards of decency, fairness and accuracy, not to mention serving the common good.
