South Korea’s large construction companies have shifted gears by accelerating apartment sales after a slow start to the year as major suppliers of apartment houses in Korea are capitalizing on the market’s favorable conditions house with prices and jeonse, or long-term lease, bottoming out in Seoul and its surrounding region, stable interest rates and diminishing recession concerns.
Knowledge industry centers in Seoul and surrounding areas in South Korea are struggling to find tenants in a high interest rate environment, posing another threat to the already sluggish real estate market led by unsold apartments. According to data from Korea Industrial Complex Corp., there are 271 knowledge industry centers that are under construction or waiting to begin construction across the country at the end of January. The industry estimates the number to be as high as 300.
