When protecting his name matters more than hearing her
Patrice Robertson The Obuasi allegations confront Ghana with a question we cannot answer with another statement: what protection follows a girl’s disclosure of abuse? What exactly are we asking a girl to be brave for if, after she speaks, the adults responsible for protecting her become more concerned about the consequences for the person she names? We tell her to report abuse, to trust her teachers, to tell her parents, to believe that the police will help.
Founder’s Day: We Face Forward, But Are We Moving?
Today, Ghana observes Founder's Day, and while many of us will appreciate the chance to rest, spend time with family, attend an event, or simply step away from our normal routines, I find myself wondering what this day is actually asking of us.
