However, for narcissistic parents the reaction will only ever be selfish in the extreme.

The Odd, Hopeful Business of Selling Medical Marijuana for Kids
© Provided by Fatherly The least expected battlefield in the ongoing war over the legalization of marijuana is the pediatric oncology ward. This is why the retail operation Cannakids has been able to put down roots California and begin to grown by offering medicinal cannabis products specifically for children.
How to Treat a Baby’s Cough the Right Way
© Provided by Fatherly A baby’s cough can make any parent feel helpless. Seeing your child in pain sucks. There’s no sound more miserable than a coughing baby, and trying to get them to sleep when they’re sick is another story. Soothing a baby through a bad night’s cough can push any parent to their wit’s end. And unlike adults who can reach for the NyQuil, babies are far too small for cough medicine.

How to Pay Less for Kids’ Braces and Orthodontics
© Provided by Fatherly There are three inevitabilities in life: death, taxes, and orthodontia. But anxiety over braces — and specifically the cost of braces — is somewhat outdated. A few decades ago, they cost as much as a downmarket car. Now, not so much. The cost of braces hasn’t really grown with inflation and today’s parents have many more choices than grandma and grandpa did back in the day.
How to Diagnose and Address Baby Diarrhea
© Provided by Fatherly Baby diarrhea is a common concern among parents coming to terms with what exactly is normal for baby poop. After all, a baby’s bowel movement looks nothing like an adult’s. For one thing, baby poop seems to change pretty dynamically. The texture and consistency of baby poop changes regularly. The color definitely changes (though hopefully not too much). So it can be difficult to pin down if a baby’s bowel movement indicates good health or cause for concern.

How to Tell Heat Rash on Your Baby’s Face or from Other Skin Conditions

So, changes in skin condition can be particularly troubling for new moms and dads. That’s particularly true for a condition like baby heat rash which can often take the blame for red irritated skin. But heat rash on a baby’s back, neck, or face is actually pretty rare.

How To Teach Your Kids To Stop Interrupting You So Much
© Provided by Fatherly Have you ever heard the joke about the interrupting cow? It’s hilarious. It goes someth — MOOOO! Okay. So maybe it’s not hilarious to you, but it will be hilarious to your toddler. That’s likely due to one of a couple reasons: Your toddler simply likes it when someone says moo really loud. Or, your toddler is totally down with interrupting you whenever they damn well feel like it, so they identify with that jerk of a cow. Yeah. It’s probably that second reason. But guess what?
Improving Your Kid’s Behavior During Video Chats with Grandparents
© Provided by Fatherly The Platonic ideal of a child video chatting with a relative is one in which child and grandmother smile at one another in placid regard through their separate devices: “You’re such a big kid! I can’t wait to visit!” “Oh, gwamy! I miss you! Can I tell you all about schoo’?” The reality is chaos. The video swings crazily as parents try to juggle the phone and a squirmy kid.
How to Stop a Kid’s Nose Picking Habit (If You Must)
© Provided by Fatherly Watching a kid knuckle-deep in a nostril digging for gold is pretty gross. Grosser still is contemplating the fact that you don’t know where the mucus is going to end up and to what degree your house is laminated in the stuff. Given that, it’s no wonder that parents are often so determined to make the habit go away.
Is a Family Workout a Good Activity for Kids at Home? One Dad Seeks Answers
© Provided by Fatherly My two boys were excited when I told them my plans for a daily family workout routine. They were so excited, in fact, that the two immediately started demonstrating how great they were at push-ups. The 4-year-old’s version looked more like he was doing a stationary “worm” dance move — pushing his torso up as his hips remained in contact with the carpet. “That’s not how you do a push-up,” his 7-year-old brother corrected.
Tell Your Kids Santa Clause Can Get COVID-19
“Can Santa get the Coronavirus?” asked my sleepy-eyed 7-year-old. It was 6:30 a.m. and he’d clearly spent a sleepless night agonizing over the Christmas hero’s viral susceptibility. That makes sense.
Obama to Conservative Men: Be More Like Clint Eastwood
The steely gaze of heroes played by Gary Cooper and Clint Eastwood would regard modern men with derision. No, we’re not talking about the fact that Harry Styles was wearing a dress on the cover of Vanity Fair. He’s too young and liberal and soft to ever draw the attention of men like them anyway. It’s the other guys, the ones in power. Once upon a time, a “man’s man” taught a lesson to the greedy railway barron and stood up for the little guy being bullied by bandits.
