Precipitation of morphology-controlled uranium(VI) peroxide in nitric acid media
Precipitation of morphology-controlled uranium(VI) peroxide in nitric acid media The precipitation of U(VI) peroxide (UO2(O2).4H2O, known as studtite) has been extensively studied in mildly acidic media (i.e. pH > 1). However, few studies have investigated the influence of highly acidic conditions (i.e. pH < 1) on the precipitation of studtite, particularly regarding the morphology of the final powder.
Hydrothermal synthesis of (Zr,U)SiO4, an efficient pathway to incorporate uranium in zircon
Hydrothermal synthesis of (Zr,U)SiO4, an efficient pathway to incorporate uranium in zircon The preparation of synthetic (Zr,U)SiO4 solid solution is a challenging operation, as the conventional high temperature solid state method limits the solubility of uranium (4 ± 1 mol.%). in the orthosilicate phase due to is thermodynamic instability.
How hydrothermal synthesis improves the preparation of (Zr,Ce)SiO4 solid solutions
How hydrothermal synthesis improves the preparation of (Zr,Ce)SiO4 solid solutions Thomas Barral, Paul Estevenon, Yann Chanteau, Thibault Kaczmarek, Andrew Strzelecki, Denis Menut, Eleonore Welcomme, Stéphanie Szenknect, Philippe Moisy, Xiaofeng Guo and Nicolas Dacheux Abstract Although ZrSiO4 is the most well-known compound in the zircon-structured family (space group I41/amd), the experimental conditions for preparing pure and well-crystallized phases which are doped with tetravalent...
Correction: Formation of plutonium(IV) silicate species in very alkaline reactive media

Formation of plutonium (IV) silicate species in very alkaline reactive media
Formation of plutonium (IV) silicate species in very alkaline reactive media Studying the speciation of Pu(IV) in very alkaline and silicate ions rich reactive media allowed identifying the formation of plutonium (IV)-silicate colloidal suspensions which were stable for months. These colloids were stabilized in aqueous solution for pH > 13 and for concentrations around 10-2 mol·L-1. Successive filtration process allowed evaluating their size, which was found to be smaller than 6 nm.
The Role of Water and Hydroxyl Groups in the Structures of Stetindite and Coffinite, MSiO4 (M = Ce, U)
Orthosilicates adopt the zircon structure types (I41/amd), consisting of isolated SiO4 tetrahedra joined by A-site metal cations, such as Ce and U. They are of significant interest in the fields of geochemistry, mineralogy, nuclear waste form development, and material science. Stetindite (CeSiO4) and coffinite (USiO4) can be formed under hydrothermal conditions despite both being thermodynamically metastable.

Formation of PuSiO4 under hydrothermal conditions
Formation of PuSiO4 under hydrothermal conditions Paul Estevenon, Eleonore Welcomme, Christelle Tamain, Gauthier Jouan, Stéphanie Szenknect, Adel Mesbah, Christophe Poinssot, Philippe Moisy and Nicolas Dacheux Abstract Attempts to synthesize plutonium (IV) silicate, PuSiO4, have been performed on the basis of the results recently reported in the literature for CeSiO4, ThSiO4 and USiO4 under hydrothermal conditions.
Formation of CeSiO4 from cerium(III) silicate precursors
Formation of CeSiO4 from cerium(III) silicate precursors Paul Estevenon, Thibault Kaczmarek, Fabien Vadot, Thomas Dumas, Pier Lorenzo Solari, Eleonore Welcomme, Stéphanie Szenknect, Adel Mesbah, Philippe Moisy, Christophe Poinssot and Nicolas Dacheux Abstract Even if the preparation of CeSiO4 has already been reported, the formation of pure cerium silicate from aqueous precursors appears as a challenge.
Preparation of CeSiO4 from aqueous precursors under soft hydrothermal conditions
Preparation of CeSiO4 from aqueous precursors under soft hydrothermal conditions Even though CeSiO4 was synthesized one time through a hydrothermal treatment, the conditions leading to its formation remain largely unknown. In order to define the optimized conditions of synthesis, a multiparametric study was developed by varying the pH of the solution, the temperature, the nature of the reactants and of the complexing ions in solution.
