We've previously reported more widely on the Register of Overseas Entities (the ROE) and who it impacts. Every Christmas I seem to get the same email forwarded by my friends about the physics of Santa Claus and how fast he has to travel to deliver presents, but I have no idea how old the email is or who created it.
Improving the Accessibility of 24 ways | CSS-Tricks
I’ve been thinking recently about the nature of my work and which aspects of it I enjoy the most. In a role that will often straddle the realms of design and development, whether editing copy, evaluating the design of an interface or refactoring code, I've come to realize that my interests lie in the act of review and refinement. My work on 24 ways is a case in point.
After Editorially: The Search For Alternative Collaborative Online Writing Tools – Smashing Magazine

Often, they work with an editor (or two), who will help them coalesce their words into something more compelling or easier to understand. Having worked with several editors — and having been a technical editor myself — I’ve really come to appreciate this aspect of the writing process. Refinement is an essential aspect of any creative process.

Designing Systems: Theory, Practice, and the Unfortunate In-between
As our lives grow increasingly reliant on digital products, designers are asked to deliver coherent experiences across a multitude of platforms, all without sacrificing development efficiency and maintainability. To answer this need, our industry has looked to style guides, pattern libraries and front-end frameworks.
CSS Flexbox Is Entirely Logical (Almost)
Given a maturing specification, and related concerns regarding browser support and compatibility, I had largely been ignoring Flexible Box Layout. Yet with support for this module – Flexbox – currently hovering around 96% (82% if using un-prefixed values) there’s little excuse for developers like myself not to start using it. Like getting to grips with any new tool, only by using it for real can its various nuances and limitations be understood.

Thinking Responsively: A Framework for Future Learning
Before the arrival of smartphones and tablets, many of us took a position of blissful ignorance. As our prescriptions grew ever more detailed, responsive web design signaled a way out.

80 Percent of Public Schools Have Contracts With Coke or Pepsi
Is your kid's public school a Coke school or a Pepsi school? If you don't know what I mean, consider yourself lucky. Starting in the early '90s, cash-strapped public schools began selling exclusive "pouring rights" to one or another Big Soda company, which would then supply all the beverages sold in on-site snack bars, stores, and soda machines as well as at sports events.
