Fights that would have changed a fighter’s career significantly had they lost
This is not exactly what you’re looking for, @Flo_Raiden, but it’s still an example of a path an ATG didn’t travel down that might have changed the trajectory of his career adversely. Alexis Arguello was seemingly on an eventual collision course from the mid-70s onwards with Roberto Duran.
Most recent world champion your size or heavier that you’d favour yourself to beat
Discussion in 'Classic Boxing Forum' started by Devon, . Me personally, I’m confident I’d beat James J Corbett. What about yourselves? Who’s the most recent Heavyweight champion you’d favour yourself to beat? They all qualify in size, as I’m 160lbs. I would get crushed by every single one of them. I can’t think of any professional boxer that I’d beat, let alone heavyweight champs. Devon said: ↑ Me personally, I’m confident I’d beat James J Corbett. What about yourselves?

Your top 10 favourite heavyweights of all time that don’t make
1) Jersey Joe Walcott. Had a vexing style all his own. Beat Louis in 1947 but lost the decision. Knocked out prime Charles, had Marciano outpointed until the fateful 13th round. 2) Floyd Patterson. Exciting boxer-puncher who beat a lot of bigger heavyweights. Youngest heavyweight champ until Tyson came along. Had blinding hand speed. Always interesting to watch. 3) Gene Tunney.
Mike Tyson Vs Joe Fraizer who ranks higher
Discussion in 'Classic Boxing Forum' started by Joeywill, . Not head to head but who was greater and should be ranked higher. Resume, skillset, etc Tyson for me. While Joe has the bigger win on his resume, I thought Tyson was more complete.
Fights that ended early but you would have wanted to see a rematch/rubber match
Discussion in 'Classic Boxing Forum' started by Flo_Raiden, . Every now and then you have match ups or rematches that looked like it could have heated up to be something interesting but the fight itself ended surprisingly quickly (either by knockout, clash of heads, DQ, premature stoppage) and they never followed up with it. Are there any fights that was stopped within the first 4 rounds that you would have been interested in seeing a rematch or rubber match?

Is Prince Naseem Hamed underrated?
Speaking as a UK fan Hamed was thrilling when he started! Many of us genuinely thought we had a pocket sized Ali on our hands. But as with so many star UK fighters he was overhyped and got rich and lazy very quickly before flaming out. I think the typical reaction in the US is another British weirdo who got what was coming! Like many fighters whose style is dependant on an almost superhuman self regard when he lost face his evaporated.
