Why AI storage needs a resilient front door: A view from SNIA SDC 2026
Industry Trends | October 09, 2026 Storage teams building for AI are not short of ways to make data move faster. The question they are increasingly asked is a different one, which is whether the data behind training, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), and inference will still be reachable and intact when a node fails, a rebuild drags on, an agent misbehaves, or someone captures traffic they should not have.
Validated testing shows resilient AI data delivery with Dell ObjectScale and F5 BIG-IP
F5 Ecosystem | May 18, 2026 AI infrastructure does not slow down only when compute is constrained. It slows down when data cannot move fast enough, consistently enough, or reliably enough to keep AI workflows running. For model training, fine-tuning, and retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), S3-compatible object storage has become a critical foundation. Massive datasets land in object stores. Training jobs read them at scale.
Testing reveals up to 3x throughput gains for MinIO storage with F5
F5 ADSP | April 13, 2026 AI workloads do not fail only when models underperform. They fail when the data path cannot keep up. As enterprises scale model training, fine-tuning, and retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), the movement of data between storage and compute has become a critical performance constraint. When network latency and jitter disrupt object storage throughput, model pipelines slow, GPUs sit idle, and infrastructure costs rise.

AI Factories Produce the Most Modern of Modern Apps: AI Apps
Over the last several months, F5 has discussed AI factories in depth. At the beginning of our series, we defined an AI factory as a massive storage, networking, and computing investment serving high-volume, high-performance training and inference requirements. AI factories, at the end of the day, are an analogy for how AI models and services are created, refined, and deployed. Much like a traditional manufacturing plant transforming materials into finished goods, AI factories build AI applications.
OPI’s Outreach Working Group
Written by Paul Pindell, Chair of the OPI Working Group and Principal Architect for F5 The Open Programmable Infrastructure (OPI) Outreach Working Group is focused on two major workstreams. The first is to make the project known and understood by the various communities that benefit from the work OPI project does. The second is to market to and attract contributors to join us in the creative work being done and to support the OPI project via membership.
OPI Tutorial at SmartNIC Summit 23
Open Programmable Infrastructure (OPI) Project held a half-day tutorial during the SmartNIC Summit 23 pre-conference day in San Jose, CA on June 13th, 2023. We would like to first thank the SmartNIC Summit 23 (SNS23) organizing team for affording OPI the opportunity to showcase our open source project. The SNS23 team not only provided the space and equipment for us to put on our tutorial, they did so for several other co-located tutorials from other SmartNIC related communities.
Behind the Scenes: The F5 Private Cloud Solution Package for Red Hat OpenStack - Measuring Success
F5 and Red Hat have just released our Private Cloud Solution Package for OpenStack. There are all kinds of marketing pieces which describe this package, what it includes, how to buy it, and what the target market looks like. I wanted to take a few minutes and tell you why I think this is such a cool offering.
F5 LBaaS v2 now certified with Mirantis v9 Mitaka.
F5 LBaaS v2 is now certified with the Mirantis Version 9 Mitaka OpenStack (MOS) distribution. I want to thank my colleague, Ulises Alonso Camaro, for his efforts in performing the certification tests, creating the demo environment, and writing the Installation Runbook. The Installation Runbook is a valuable resource in which Ulises has detailed the LBaaSv2 features that are common to both the F5 components and MOS 9.0, as well as those which were tested and validated.
Your F5 VMworld Voter's Pamphlet -- or Help Send me to Vegas
Being sent to Vegas is not something I generally aspire to. But in this case I'll make an exception. #VMworld is being held in Vegas this year August 28th - September 1st. Each year proscpective presenters prepare our session proposals and submit them to be voted upon. Those sessions with the most votes are chosen to be presented at the show. This year I have three different session proposals that I've submitted. And this is where I need your help. I'd appreciate your vote.
F5's OpenStack Ecosystem and our Red Hat Partnership
F5 first certified our LBaaS plugin on the Redhat platform with Redhat OpenStack Platform v6. Since that time, we have made significant progress in customer adoption of our joint OpenStack integration in both Enterprise and SP markets. See details about our solution here: As the first Open Source software company to pass the 1 billion dollar threshold, it is a natural fit for Redhat to offer a compelling distribution of the OpenStack platform.
F5 LBaaS Solutions and Mirantis
As F5 has continued to evolve our OpenStack related efforts we have developed a partnership ecosystem and developed key integrations. These integrations are critical to our customer deployments. In this post, we will discuss our partnership with Mirantis, the leading pure-play OpenStack offering, who provides customers with a validated distribution of OpenStack and expertise in the deployment of open cloud architectures.
Another Major Milestone from our OpenStack Dev Team
I have to say I have a great job. I am lucky enough to get to work on some of the most exsiting efforts at F5. And one of those efforts is working with F5's OpenStack Dev team. Today this team delivered our LBaaS v2 driver on github! Providing our enterprise and telco\SP customers with a supported LBaaS v2 plugin on the Liberty platform is a crucial, next step in enabling customers to configure some of the advanced ADC services found on F5.
Cultural Shifts and the F5 Embrace of Open Source Technology
Why do 48 of the Fortune 50 companies use F5? Well it is because we ensure applications are fast, secure, and available. Providing an exceptional product with world-class support has enabled F5 to dominate the ADC market for nearly a decade. Over the past two years, F5 has embraced the shift to Software Defined Data Center architectures, and has actively partnered with many of the leading providers in the SDN networking space.
