Paul Webster is a freelance writer and documentary film director based in Canada and Argentina. Paul focuses on themes at the intersection of science, business, culture and human rights.
Paul has reported from 30 countries for ARTE, BBC TV, CBC TV, Maclean's, The Globe and Mail, The Toronto Star, The Lancet, The Canadian Medical Association Journal, Science, Nature, Report on Business Magazine and many other publications.
Paul has won four National Magazine Awards, a Tier One Award from the Canadian Institutes of Health Research, the Canadian Bar Association Award for Excellence in Legal Journalism (2013), the Dave Greber Freelance Magazine Writer Award (2013), the Sanofi Pasteur Award for Science Writing (2014 and 2017), the Western Canada Magazine Award for Science Writing (2010 and 2014), and the 2016 Michener-Deacon Fellowship for Investigative Journalism.
At the University of Toronto, Paul teaches Canada’s only course in freelance science, medicine and public health writing.
