Paula Smith’s Biography

As a graduate in Psychology and also counselling and psychotherapy I have a vast interest in people and human behavior. What makes people tick and respond to a certain article or image is at the heart of what I do. Writing is an opportunity and an outlet to reach others in a creative and personal fashion.

I realized my love, passion and talent for writing as a student and this lead me to pursue writing opportunities in varying areas including arts reviews, health and lifestyle and translation French to English for a very established daily French newspaper. Communication with others and engaging the readers/audience is central to what I aim to achieve as a writer.

I hold an international perspective on events and arts which was helped by my residing in both New York and Paris - one year in New York and ten years in Paris. I am fluent in French and open to new ideas and influences.

I attend art events as part of my current position at Reviewsphere magazine based in Edinburgh. This can include theater to art exhibitions. As an aspiring artists myself I am fascinated by all visual arts and have even exhibited here in the Scottish capital.

My love of fashion and lifestyle began as a child where I designed clothes and developed a passion for knitting, which I still practice today creating many of my own clothes.

My approach to writing is one of compassion, sharing and knowing the 'reader'. The key for me is aiming the article to both the audience new to the subject and the expert looking for stimulation and additional information.

A real break through happened in my writing career by spending six months working for a London fashion magazine. I was a life style writer and covered many areas and tested and reviewed new high street quality products. This experience confirmed for me various things - my determination to succeed as a writer, to highlight new and significant information and to have a role in sharing upcoming and important breakthroughs in health, lifestyle and other matters.
