Pavithra Subarayan’s Biography

I am Pavithra Subarayan, a Senior News Reporter and Digital Media Specialist with over seven years of frontline journalism experience across television and digital media. I don’t just report the news — I chase it, investigate it, and deliver it with the urgency and accuracy it deserves.

For three years, I was one of the most prominent reporters on News Tamil 24*7 Television, a state-wide broadcast network reaching millions of viewers daily across Tamil Nadu. I anchored high-rating programmes, broke stories live in the field, and built a loyal audience through reporting that was fearless, fair, and fast. I developed deep source networks, attended court hearings and press conferences, and produced in-depth investigations on issues that truly mattered to communities — all under relentless deadlines.

Before that, I spent four years at News J 24*7 Television, where I built my investigative foundation. I uncovered critical information on significant public interest stories, operated broadcast equipment, produced and edited multimedia video segments, and reported on sensitive issues with the care and context they demanded.

I am as comfortable in the field as I am in the edit suite. My technical skills span Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, and Autodesk 3ds Max — I am a fully self-sufficient multimedia journalist. I am fluent in Tamil and English, with working knowledge of Turkish, and I have reported across linguistic and cultural lines throughout my career.

I also hold a Master’s in Digital Media and Society from the University of Leicester, UK — a qualification that sharpens how I think about journalism in a rapidly evolving media landscape.

Alongside my reporting, I have worked in public relations for Tamil Nadu ministers and corporate clients. That experience gave me a unique lens: I understand how institutions communicate, which makes me sharper at identifying what they’re not saying.

My driving belief is simple — the truth matters, and it deserves to be told well.
