DOP 333: The Hidden Problems Behind Every Data Pipeline
Show Notes #333: Pete Hunt, CEO of Dagster and early React team member, explores the evolution from Facebook’s early React development through trust and safety infrastructure at Twitter, to building modern data orchestration tools.
Hey Product Hunt, I’m Pete, CEO at Dagster! We just launched Compass: collaborative AI-powered insights in Slack powered by your data warehouse. Finally, you can get to the “why” behind your metrics in seconds, not days. We originally built Compass as an internal tool to solve our own business problems.
Will Indian Courts Tame Wikipedia? - Tribune Content Agency
Governments worldwide are no longer hesitant to crack down on social media companies and their executives. In August, Pavel Durov, the billionaire founder of the Telegram messaging app, was arrested in France as part of a broad investigation into criminal activity on the platform. Days later, a Brazilian Supreme Court justice blocked access to X, one of the country’s most popular social networks, amid a showdown with owner Elon Musk.
Will Asian Diplomacy Stump ChatGPT? - The Diplomat
ChatGPT, the highly effective chatbot developed by OpenAI, has generated a substantial quantity of controversy since its mushy launch in November. Educational establishments have been compelled right into a surveillance-and-detection arms race to uncover AI-enabled plagiarism in scholar essays. Elon Musk and investor Marc Andreessen have both insinuated that this system is one way or the other too politically progressive to provide correct solutions.

As a long-time resident of Tiller, I was disappointed to hear about the proposed relocation — but not entirely surprised.
React: Facebook's Functional Turn on Writing JavaScript
One of the long-standing ironies of user-friendly JavaScript front ends is that building them typically involved trudging through the DOM (Document Object Model), hardly known for its friendliness to developers. But now developers have a way to avoid directly interacting with the DOM, thanks to Facebook's decision to open-source its React library for the construction of user interface components.
Thinking in React
React is, in my opinion, the premier way to build big, fast Web apps with JavaScript. It has scaled very well for us at Facebook and Instagram. One of the many great parts of React is how it makes you think about apps as you build them. In this post, I'll walk you through the thought process of building a searchable product data table using React. Imagine that we already have a JSON API and a mock from our designer.
