Any news on Damasko's Daminox steel?
New to WUS and german watches in general I've been thinking of getting a Damasko but I've heard they intend to change their ice-hardened steel to Daminox steel which has a 1600HV instead. Has there been any news on this change? I think they've been talking about it since back in 2008, and their site does mention it as well.
Opinion needed: Nomos on Staib
As you influenced me to buy this same band for the same watch, I had this same thought. I will wear the mesh in a business casual (dress shirt/slacks but no tie or jacket) work setting Monday-Thursday. Casual Friday and general non-work casual I would wear the Cordovan strap.
Nomos Tangente v Stowa Antea? Some photos...
#1 · This is an often asked question. So as my Nomos and my brother's Antea were together for a week in Bavaria recently, I thought I'd take a few photos of them side-by-side in case it helps anyone make up their mind which one to buy. The Antea is a 365 and the Tangente is a 35. The main difference in my eyes was the additional thickness of the Antea, both in the height of the case and the 'chunkiness' of the lugs. This also makes it heavier (not necessarily a bad thing).
Tools for Geneva Stripes?
All of the methods discussed here will work. It really depends on the type of metal you are working with and its hardness, what you would use for the tool and the abrasive. Also the type of stripes you want to achieve, or pattern must also be looked at. You mentioned engine turning, if you have access to the Rose Engine machine with a straight line attachment, or a true straight line machine.
Other Uses for the Diver's Bezel
I wear a lot of different watches but when I look at my collection I realize that most of them are divers. I was thinking today about the usefulness of the bezel and the different things that I have used it for. Now, like many collectors I do not dive so the most obvious use is out. But I do use it for quite a few activities nevertheless. One obvious use is for keeping track of the time on the parking meter. Probably most of us do that one.
I Created 10 Maps That Show Every Nuclear Explosions Since 1945
On July 16, 1945, the first nuclear bomb exploded in the New Mexico desert and changed history forever. In a flash, the world entered the nuclear age. In the 74 years since that first test, there have been more than two thousand nuclear explosions around the world, carried out by eight countries. It can be hard to get a sense of the global scale and impact that these explosions have had.
I Created 5 Maps That Show How Small Our World Actually Is
We live in an incredibly complicated and interconnected world. Networks stretching across land, sea, and air gives us ways to travel and share goods and ideas around the world. But sometimes we forget about these World map connections and get caught up in our own little worlds. I created a series of satellite maps that hide everything except for the places and networks that connect us, so we can see how connected our world truly is, and how humans have changed it over the past 150 years.
