Why Is Fascism Attacking Higher Education?
We are witnessing a fascist attempt to establish “patriotic education” by prohibiting public schools at all levels from even discussing Palestine, Black History and history of all marginalized communities. Trump’s attacks on universities reveals how fascism operates with open criminality which is then furthered and facilitated by the politics of compromise.

Letter: Make reparations for Palestine
News / Opinion / Letters to the Editor Now would be a good time to open hospitals in the occupied territory of Israel to handle a massive number of criminal victims in Gaza.
Letter: Fair and speedy trials?
I was wondering how I, an ordinary citizen, could provide a former president with a fair and speedy trial. According to the Sixth Amendment, in criminal prosecutions, the accused shall enjoy the right to a speedy and public trial, by an impartial jury of the state and district wherein the crime shall have been committed. It seems so unfair to treat this great man to such foot dragging and lackadaisical contempt by the judiciary, most of whom were appointed by him.
Letter: Focus on alternative fuels
In our rush to electrify everything in the mistaken belief that we can defeat climate change, we will only exacerbate the problem and rapidly destroy the planet. Electric vehicles are pure filth in motion, from the incredibly polluting batteries to the actual implementation of the charging stations, the majority of which will be connected to the existing grid fueled by everything including tar sands, coal, fracked gas and nuclear.
Opinion: Labour won’t Deliver 300,000 Homes
Following the debate about how many houses are needed in the UK, industry-expert Peter Brown directs our attention to a topic this argument could be overshadowing. The debate around how many new homes are needed misjudges the big issue – a new Labour government will struggle to increase housing completions for sale and for rent. Public services are failing, satisfaction rates are at record lows and waiting lists are soaring.
New Jersey Passes Privacy Law
Privacy Regulation The New Jersey law follows states, such as California, Texas, and Connecticut, who have enacted privacy laws, including broad laws addressing consumer data privacy, children’s privacy laws, consumer health data privacy laws, and data broker laws. Privacy is dead, and social media holds the smoking gun. — Pete Cashmore, former CEO of Mashable Inc.
Letter: Remember events of Jan. 6
I think that Jan. 6 should be a day of mourning, reflection and service. It was a day of almost epic tragedy and comic stupidity in a grand manner. It must serve as a reminder that the little Hitler in all narcissistic demagogues runs strong in those deep and eerie places beyond logic and mythology. We have obviously not done enough to cast out the evil perpetrated that day, because the head is still attached to the body politic and may yet run again.
Letter: Focus on biofuels, hydrogen power
We grow weary of the warriors for climate. We have real examples available and we do not need the watt-suckers’ fervent campaign to go from clean tailpipe to filthy pipeline campaigns. Most EVs will be fed from the grid; to meet that challenge, climate warriors are touting solar, still a monumental joke to even dent the needs of more than 3 million cars suddenly sucking up to the grid. Grow up, back off and rethink, based on realistic solutions that can make real differences.
Education and Real Estate: A Match Made in Heaven? Or Hell?
“We want a home near the really good schools . . . ” That simple statement, expressed by parents and parents-to-be every day, reveals many things about what we face today. Education and real estate may seem like separate topics, but are instead inextricably linked for many reasons.
Letter: Violence replaces good sense
With Hamas and Iran putting a carefully planned mass attack on its neighbor, Putin no longer stands alone as a genocidal psychopath. How will it end is of no importance to the world, it serves only to show the full futility of the era of the gun’s ability to tear the thin fabric of civility and humanity. Wholesale as in Russia or piecemeal as in our own backyards, the overwhelming presence of these weapons of small destruction has to be addressed and removed.
Letter: See truth of Trump rebellion
It’s important to recognize what happened on Jan. 6, 2021, on the steps and inside one of our most hallowed grounds. Not hallowed for a religion, a creed or a flash-in-the-pan cult, hallowed for what transpires daily within those walls, our Capitol. That day, America staged its first Kristallnacht in honor of the Trump party, for the whole world to see, and yes, to wonder at how far we have fallen and how high the GOP has put the bar for us to lower once again. It was the night of the long knives.
Letter: Review citizenship responsibilities
There must be other citizens completely disgusted by the complete hatred for America that putting an indicted criminal on the ballot for the highest office in my country displays. A man so depraved that he had his attorney pay off a sex worker, followed by an attempted rape of a woman in a clothing store. That is what this campaign is offering us.
Letter: Biofuels are the answer
There is no getting away from the EV wattsuckers. In their rush to convert everything to their myopic electric vision they are willing to sacrifice their very lives. The ecological damage is being created upstream from their dream machines and new power plants will have to be built. Nobody seems to be concerned about how the watts will be generated. The big lie, of course, is that every Tesla will nuzzle up to a solar-powered charging station attached to the owner’s home.
Letter: Make sure slavery is abolished
Much to my disgust I was just informed by my son that the practice of slavery is still allowed in America. On checking, I reread the 13th Amendment only to find: “Neither slavery nor involuntary servitude, except as a punishment for crime whereof the party shall have been duly convicted, shall exist within the United States, or any place subject to their jurisdiction.” It is a very clear justification for taking people off the streets and putting them into involuntary servitude.
Letter: Your vote counts
People died in the ’60s so more people could vote, regardless of race, religion or sexual orientation. We organized voting drives to get out the vote. We were beaten and jailed so that more people would vote, without fear, insults or intimidation. It cost MLK his life, and his sacrifice paved the way for more voters to come forth and be counted. A swelling of support for that essential and basic right was created until one party decided enough.
Letter: Go slow on energy changes
In our stampede to go all in for electricity we are courting disasters that we are not yet aware of. To start with, we have no idea what removing 3.5 million cars and trucks from the transportation pool will look like, and to do it between 2030 and 2050 is insanity.
Letter: Keep lawmakers out of education
Dwyane Wade says he and his family moved from Florida because they were not ‘accepted,’ citing anti-trans discrimination against daughter Zaya
Letter: Keep lawmakers out of education
After watching the degradation of the curriculums in right-wing cultural enclaves, my suggestion is that Texas and Disneyland could save a passel of dollars of the GOP elite with Donald Trump and Ron DeSantis battling for the bottom in science, history, civics, literature and other courses vital to the future of our kids.
Letter: Rethink support for Kent
There are two comic book characters in Clark County. The first is a childhood mythological beast imbued with amazing powers of strength, capable of flying anywhere in the world, although he seems to prefer 1950s America of the Eisenhower era with all that era’s love of peace and old-time virtues. Clark Kent is a legend known around the world, admired by all as Superman.
TikTok Watch: Tomoki Iwata Stars in Celtic’s ‘Album Cover Shoot’ Fail
Xbox's newest exclusive, Hi-Fi Rush, was heavily inspired by the filmography of acclaimed director Edgar Wright. Xbox has been heavily criticized for the last few years for not having consistently great exclusives. It really stands out in comparison to PlayStation and Nintendo which are releasing game of the year-level exclusives that are both incredibly fun to play and even sometimes have amazing stories, some of which are now being adapted for the big screen.
Letter: Trump chaos is spreading
Why was everybody surprised that the GOP could not come up with a rational solution in their search for a speaker? The party has spent the last two years essentially denying any form of useful intervention and contributing to actually taking meaningful action to avoid any responsibility for the myriad of attacks done to our nation by their globular champion.
Watch: Celtic B’s go one point off top spot after 4-0 win
Some NBA players take longer to develop than others. For every Luka Doncic, there is a Kyle Lowry or Khris Middleton. Whatever the case, certain players need different coaching or a new environment to reach their potential. That seems to potentially be the case for Isaiah Joe. Joe was selected... 1 DAY AGO
Celtic at Ibrox: “We can’t let it become a shambles,” Sutton’s VAR Warning
After returning to Premier League action with a victory over Aston Villa earlier in the week, Jürgen Klopp’s Liverpool play their final game of 2022 when they welcome Leicester City to Anfield knowing nothing less than a win will do for the current sixth place side as they look to build a foundation for a stronger 2023.

Shana Tova, Chag Samayach and Happy New Year from an Unorthodox Jew
In honor of Yom Kippur, I present one of my all-time worst pictures, taken at one of the most sacred Jewish sites in the Western Hemisphere – the bima (pulpit) from the Hebrew Congregation of St. Thomas, the 2nd oldest Jewish community in the Western Hemisphere, after Willemstad, Curaçao. I was there for my brother’s wedding in 2015. Visiting there was no less emotional than visiting the remaining wall of the 2nd Temple in Jerusalem (Wailing Wall.) Shana Tova, Chag Samayach and Happy New Year.

Home of the “Hellhounds,” Whiteman AFB Drone Squadron ‘Most Lethal’ in US
Note: Brian Terrell delivered this talk at the Oct. 1 peace witness sponsored by PeaceWorksKC, at Whiteman AFB, near Knob Noster, MO. Leading up to this protest there was discussion among organizers about the nature of drone operations here at Whiteman Air Force Base. Is this a training facility, or are Reaper drones engaged in lethal activities, are actual murders committed from this place, in real time in places far away by remote control?
Whose Kids? Our Kids?
As public schools enter their third year of COVID, public education as a system is staggering on the ropes. Since 2020, more than half a million teachers have left the profession. Public school teachers all report that last year’s challenges for student sociability and mental health were not functionally addressed. This year will be as challenging as the last two. There has never been a more momentous time to re-define public education.
Letter: Seek clean alternatives to gas
There are 284 million cars in America, of that total 607,600 are electric. In spite of the advances in liquid fuels, evolving engines, and a vast fuel infrastructure, we are being informed, or more accurately bullied, into adopting the clean energy mythology of the electric vehicle.
Will Republicans Finally Turn Against the NRA's Money?
President Biden is right. “For God’s Sake,” and our children’s sake, we must do something about gun violence in America. And we must do it now. Back in 1996, after a few years of mass shootings, Australia experienced a mass slaughter on a scale like we saw yesterday in Texas. Their Supreme Court hadn’t ruled that Australian politicians could be owned by industries, so they passed extensive gun control and a nationwide gun buyback program.
Will Sanctions Against Russia Leads to a Global Food Disaster?
There is really no true solution to the problem of global food security without bringing back the agriculture production of Ukraine and the food and fertilizer production of Russia and Belarus into world markets despite the war.” These blunt words by UN Secretary-General António Guterres accurately describe the present global food crisis.
The Turning Point for Social Movements
The people of the United States have been taught for generations that, because we live in a democracy, when something is wrong we can address it by making our voices heard, individually and collectively. We deeply believe that government, though inefficient and even corrupt, is basically responsive to our needs and is there to protect us.
