Peter Preble’s Biography

Peter Preble is a Massachusetts-based independent journalist, writer, public theologian, and historian. His work explores grief, religion, ethics, public life, emergency services, and the human questions raised by emerging technology.

He serves as Interim Minister of North Community Church in Marshfield and as Assistant Chief Chaplain of the Massachusetts Corps of Fire Chaplains. He is also a fire chaplain, Army veteran, grief coach, end-of-life doula, and longtime broadcaster.

Drawing on more than two decades of pastoral care and public-service experience, Peter writes essays, commentary, reported features, and professional articles that make room at the table for both grief and joy. His work has appeared in Tiny Buddha, Spirit of Change Magazine, The New Bedford Light, and publications of the Massachusetts Department of Fire Services.
