What the Workplace Can Learn From Broadcast Studio Design
Peter Provost of Provost Studio explores why your office needs a broadcast studio. In today’s media landscape, the need for content is never-ending. Brands are constantly tuned in to the news cycle, anticipating moments to join the conversation or creating their own. In order to stay relevant, organizations need to innovate, and in order to innovate, they need the tools.
Council Post: Why XR Is The Next Big Thing In Corporate Video Production
Peter Provost, President and Director of Design at PROVOST STUDIO—empowering brands to express themselves through media-rich environments. Extended reality (XR) is one of the most exciting technologies I’ve seen developed in my 20-plus years in broadcast scenic design and architecture. We are in discussions with multiple clients who are asking how this technology can be used to create new and exciting forms of content.
Council Post: Five Steps To Branding Your Corporate Webcast Studio
Peter Provost, President and Director of Design at PROVOST STUDIO—empowering brands to express themselves through media-rich environments. When I was a young architectural designer working on the CNN Headquarters at Columbus Circle in New York twenty years ago, we designed the broadcast studio so that it was backdropped by an exquisite view of Central Park. These days, you can replace that view with a huge 4K screen that could as easily show a frosty morning in Wisconsin.
Build with Azure IoT Central and IoT Plug and Play
We’ve made it our mission to provide powerful yet simple-to-use IoT offerings across cloud and edge, so that our partners and customers can quickly move from idea, to pilot, and then production without the need for deep expertise. Azure IoT Central and IoT Plug and Play are at the center of our quest to simplify the IoT journey so that any customer, no matter where they’re starting from, can quickly and easily create trusted, connected solutions.
Connecting Node-RED to Azure IoT Central
Today I want to show how simple it is to connect a temperature/humidity sensor to Azure IoT Central using a Raspberry Pi and Node-RED. As many of you know, Raspberry Pi is a small, single-board computer. Its low cost, low power nature makes it a natural fit for IoT projects. Node-RED is a flow-based, drag and drop programming tool designed for IoT. It enables the creation of robust automation flows in a web browser, simplifying IoT project development.
Announcing the general availability of Azure IoT Central
Our quest to simplify IoT extends to customers who want to take advantage of IoT without knowing anything about the cloud. I am delighted to announce Azure IoT Central is now generally available (GA). With IoT Central, we harness the key complexities of operating, managing, securing, and scaling an IoT solution so customers can bring their connected product vision to life faster, without requiring cloud solution expertise.
What Really Matters in Test-Driven Development
It isn't about the tests -- it's about the feedback. Recently someone asked me to provide guidance to someone wanting to convince development teams to adopt Test-Driven Development (TDD). I wrote a rather long reply that was the seed leading to this article. My answer was simple: You can't convince people to do TDD. In fact, you shouldn't even try, because it focuses on the wrong thing. TDD is a technique, not an objective.
SOLID Agile Development
Agile development is about more than churning out code quickly; it also forces you to think about writing software that's more extendable, robust and maintainable. Most of the recent writings about Agile development focus on what I'll call "process stuff." You see articles about work item and backlog management, burndowns and burn-ups. There are books and articles about Kanban and Scrum, collaboration and communication, culture, and scaling to the enterprise.
