Interview

What was your first job as a journalist?

My first piece had me covering an Eastern Ontario tractor pull and show in the rain. Got down in the mud, literally.

Have you ever used a typewriter?

Of course! Still have one at my desk.

How is social media changing news?

Social media both hinders and helps news spread, though certainly more caution is required when getting information on these sites.

What tools and software do you use to do your job?

I mainly use the basics: pen+paper, mobile phone, laptop, and Microsoft Office.

Why did you become a journalist?

To help ensure individual stories are accurately told and to keep the public informed on key events, updates, and news.

What advice can you offer to aspiring journalists?

Read and write as much as possible--it's an art that you never quit developing.
