Philip Garland is the esteemed president of Lexington Land Developers, established in 1981 in Lancaster, PA. His leadership has propelled the company to the forefront of the residential land development industry in the Keystone State, with notable projects including a 122-unit multi-residential development and developments with 98, 45, and 46 units. From its inception, he has built the company from the ground up, ensuring its profitability and helping similar startups, exemplified by his sponsorship of Reed Concrete.
Educated at Thaddeus Stevens College of Technology, he completed a two-year carpentry program in 1981, graduating as the top student and receiving the school's highest honor, an award dating back to 1920 awarded annually to one outstanding graduate. This institution, founded as Stevens Trade School in 1905, prepares students for high-demand careers, offering associate degrees and certificate programs to over 1,400 students.
During his educational tenure, Garland was the cross-country and indoor track team captain, showcasing his leadership early on. His dedication to the institution has continued through substantial donations and over a decade of service on the Alumni Foundation and Association Boards, including a significant tenure as treasurer.
In his personal life, he has been married since 2002 and is a father to two sons and a stepson, whom he has raised and mentored from a young age. His commitment to youth extends beyond his family; he coached youth lacrosse for eight years, providing guidance and motivation, culminating in a unique initiative to reward high school seniors for their integrity and hard work.
His involvement with the Boy Scouts has been profound. He served as a Cub Scout leader and assistant Boy Scout leader, and he was honored with the “Order of the Arrow” award in 2022, recognizing his significant contribution to embodying and promoting the values of Scouting. He also played a pivotal role in mentoring his son to achieve the Eagle Scout Award in May 2024.
Garland’s compassion is evident in his sacrifices to support his family's challenges, including aiding his stepson through recovery from alcohol dependency and assisting his nephew in redirecting his life towards positive outcomes, including facilitating his nephew’s enrollment in Thaddeus Stevens College of Technology.
Philip Garland also dedicates time to charitable efforts, from local school fundraisers to aiding children in conflict zones like Ukraine. An avid runner, he remains competitive in his age group, reflecting his dedication and vigor in every aspect of life.
